This work provides a promising strategy to prepare piezochromic materials of all-inorganic semiconductors, thereby greatly increasing the choice of materials for new applications. An efficient synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted furans directly from alkynyl ketones has been developed via tandem gold(i)-catalyzed isomerization of alkynyl ketones to allenyl ketones and cycloisomerization. The key to the success of this chemistry is the use of a biphenyl-2-ylphosphine ligand featuring a critical remote tertiary amino group. We report the observation of microwave coherent control of rotational states of ultracold 85Rb133Cs molecules formed in their vibronic ground state by short-range photoassociation. Molecules are formed in the single rotational state X(v = 0, J = 1) by exciting pairs of atoms to the short-range state (2)3Π0-(v = 11, J = 0), followed by spontaneous decay. We use depletion spectroscopy to record the dynamic evolution of the population distribution and observe clear Rabi oscillations while irradiating on a microwave transition between coupled neighbouring rotational levels. A density-matrix formalism that accounts for longitudinal and transverse decay times reproduces both the dynamic evolution during the coherent process and the equilibrium population. The coherent control reported here is valuable both for investigating coherent quantum effects and for applications of cold polar molecules produced by continuous short-range photoassociation.A fluorine-substituted ionic liquid based on a pyrrolidinium cation and a bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide anion was synthesized using a facile one-step reaction. The resulting ionic liquid is highly pure and when dissolved with LiFSI, the IL-based electrolyte showed good compatibility both in Li and graphite anodes, and superior voltage stability is demonstrated in a LiNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2 cell. The drive for finding active bifunctional electrocatalysts for efficient overall water splitting continues in order to extract energy in the form of hydrogen as a clean fuel. Bismuth iron molybdenum oxide solid solution, composed of orthorhombic Bi2MoO6 as the major component and monoclinic Bi3(FeO4)(MoO4)2 as the minor component, has been identified as a potential electrocatalyst for the first time.In this article, we study the conformational isomerization in a solvent using a system-bath model where the phase space structures relevant for the reaction dynamics are revealed. These phase space structures are an integral part of understanding the reaction mechanism, that is the pathways that reactive trajectories undertake, in the presence of a solvent. Our approach involves detecting the analogs of the reactive islands first discussed in the works by Davis, Marston, De Leon, Berne and coauthors in the system-bath model using Lagrangian descriptors. We first present the structure of the reactive islands for the two degrees of freedom system modelling isomerization in the absence of the bath using direct computation of cylindrical (tube) manifolds and verify the Lagrangian descriptor method for detecting the reactive islands. The hierarchy of the reactive islands as indicated in the recent work by Patra and Keshavamurthy is shown to be related to the temporal features in committor probabilities. Next, we investigate the influence of the solvent on the reactive islands that we previously revealed for the two degrees of freedom system and discuss the use of the Lagrangian descriptor in the high-dimensional phase space of the system-bath model.Development of CRISPR/Cas-based in vitro diagnostic devices, or CRISPR/Cas-Dx, has become an intensely researched area. Among the different classes of CRISPR/Cas-Dx, the class based on the Cas12a enzyme (i.e., CRISPR/Cas12a-Dx or simply Cas12a-Dx), is predominantly employed for detecting DNA targets. Current research in Cas12a-Dx has focused on appending Cas12a-Dx to preamplification techniques or coupling Cas12a-Dx to different detection modalities, which has inevitably overshadowed the detection performance of Cas12a-Dx and overlooked its intrinsic detection capability without preamplification. We recognize that Cas12a-Dx, which relies on DNA-activated Cas12a to cleave single-stranded DNA, shares significant similarity with other nuclease-based DNA biosensors, whose performances can be influenced by parameters ranging from the reaction buffer to the reaction temperature. We are thus inspired to probe the limits of preamplification-free Cas12a-Dx by exploring and systematically evaluating several potential parameters that may impact its detection sensitivity and time. Using a previously reported fluorescence-based Cas12a-Dx as the test bed, we have identified that the Cas12a enzyme, the reaction buffer, the substrate label, the substrate concentration, and the reaction temperature can be optimized to significantly improve the signal-to-background ratio and the reaction rate of Cas12a-Dx. NVP-AUY922 Based on these findings, we have improved the limit of detection (LOD) of the Cas12a-Dx to 100 fM, while reduced the time-to-positive to less then 46 min, representing the most sensitive LOD without preamplification and the fastest time-to-positive for this LOD to date. More broadly, our work provides a roadmap for further advancing Cas12a-Dx and perhaps other classes of CRISPR/Cas-Dx.Previous measurements of fundamental, first-, second- and third overtones of the OH-stretching vibration of phenol and 2,6-difluoro-phenol by use of visible (Vis), near-infrared (NIR) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy revealed an oscillating pattern in the intensity quotient between the two kinds of solvents, carbon tetrachloride and n-hexane, upon increase of the vibrational quantum number, which could not be reproduced utilizing quantum mechanical calculations in implicit solvation. In the present study this phenomenon was successfully explained for the first time, employing an explicit consideration of solute-solvent interactions in combination with modern grid-based methods to solve the time-independent Schrödinger equation. The capabilities of this framework of (i) not requiring any assumptions on the form of the resulting wave function, (ii) focusing the description on the vibrational mode of interest and (iii) taking solute-solvent interactions explicitly into account are a particularly lucid example of the advantages in applying state-of-the-art approaches in investigations of challenging vibrational quantum problems.
