Immunotherapies with checkpoint inhibitors have led to a paradigm shift in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) as they established a new standard in first-line treatment. In 2030 there will be 4 million people in need of care in Germany; however, the nursing care sector is already suffering from ashortage of skilled workers. Innovative approaches are thus required. One possible solution with high future potential is the use of assistive robots that provide support in everyday and work tasks. The aim of this study was to analyze the ethical, legal and social aspects of the use of assistance robots in clinics and care facilities in more detail. The empirical survey addressed decision makers in these organizations who are responsible for making purchasing decisions in the introduction of robotic assistance systems.
Using an online survey, decision makers from more than 160 hospitals and care facilities throughout Germany were interviewed between October and December 2018.
The interviewees of the study did not see any absolute exclusion criteria for the use of assistance robots in care with respect to ethical, legal and social aspects. The majority of the participants were na protection and data security in order to gain acceptance of their solutions.

New analytical methods enable the determination of cortisol concentrations in hair (HCC) as aretrospective long-term parameter for chronic stress. So far, it is still uncertain whether stress objectively measured by an increase in HCC might be apredictive factor associated with the development of an acute myocardial infarction.
Included in this study were 40patients with an acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), confirmed by electrocardiography (ECG). The control group consisted of 80 patients without coronary artery disease (CAD).
Patients with STEMI did not show significantly higher HCCs (p = 0.846) compared to the control group and there was no correlation with the extent of myocardial infarction (p = 0.701, r = 0.038). Correlations were found between HCC, diabetes mellitus (p = 0.046, odds ratio, OR = 6.346), low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol concentration (p = 0.107) and glycated hemoglobin A (HbA1c) concentration (p = 0.083, r = 0.236). Furthermore, there was an association between an increased HCC and chronic heart failure (p = 0.110) and an association to the red blood cell distribution width (RDW) concentration (p = 0.005, r = 0.293).
The results of this study showed that patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction did not have significantly higher levels of hair cortisol compared to the reference group; however, long-term metabolic changes as well as advanced chronic heart failure appear to be long-acting stress factors for the organism and increase cortisol levels in hair.

Cardiac tamponade (CT) complicating pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for atrial fibrillation (AF) is acomplication that can increase morbidity and mortality. Radiofrequency energy is aknown cause of CT. Ablation Index (AI) is anovel ablation quality marker. We hypothesized that use of AI reduces the incidence of CT.
All AF procedures between 10/2014 and 06/2019 were included. Three ablation groups were defined groupA, RF ablation with non-contact force (CF) catheter; groupB, RF ablation with CF catheter; and groupC, RF ablation with CF catheter using AI. All episodes of CT were analyzed.
In total, 1222consecutive AF patients underwent PVI. GroupA consisted of 100 (8%) procedures, while groupB included 432 (35%) procedures and groupC 690 (57%) procedures. The overall risk for CT in all patients was 2.1% (26/1222). The risk in groupA was 2.9% (3/100), in groupB 2.5% (11/432), and in groupC 1.7% (12/690), including all 1222patients in the analysis (p < 0.05). Univariate analysis identified no further specific predictors for CT. With the exception of one patient (1/26; 3.8%), who needed surgical treatment, all CT could be successfully drained.

Several observational studies have suggested aworrying reduction in hospitalisations for acute coronary syndromes in the emergency cardiology department in the last few months all over the world. The aim of the present study is to assess the impact of the current COVID-19 health crisis on admission for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the cardiology department of atertiary general hospital in Germany with aCOVID-19 ward.
The authors retrieved clinical data evaluating consecutive patients with ACS admitted to their emergency cardiology department. Data from January to June 2020, as well as for a5-week period corresponding to this year's COVID-19 outbreak in south-west Germany (23rd March-26th April), were analysed and compared to data from equivalent weeks in the previous 2years. Atrend of reduction in admissions for ACS was observed from the beginning of the outbreak in the region at the end of March 2020.
