Cumulative sensitivities for malignancy were 87 % (93/107) on pass 1, 97 % (104/107) on pass 2, and 98 % (105/107) on pass 3, respectively, with no increase in sensitivity after 4 or more. An adequate specimen for histological assessment was obtained in 79 % (92/116) of cases. Multivariate logistic analyses showed that lesion size smaller than 13 mm was a risk factor for failure of obtaining an adequate specimen for histological assessment ( P  = 0.010) Conclusions  The novel 25-gauge Franseen needle showed excellent diagnostic yield for solid pancreatic masses. However, its ability to obtain an adequate specimen for histological assessment may still be insufficient, especially when dealing with small lesions.in German Background and study aims  Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) is a novel moderately invasive technique in endo-bariatrics as compared to laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Data is limited as to its efficacy and safety. Methods  We searched multiple databases from inception through August 2019 to identify studies that reported on ESG in the treatment of obesity. Our goals were to calculate the pooled rates of total weight loss (%TWL), excess weight loss (%EWL), and body mass index (BMI) at 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months with ESG. We included studies that reported on LSG, in a similar time frame as ESG, and compared the 12-month outcomes. Results  From eight studies on ESG (1815 patients), the pooled rates of %TWL at 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months were 8.7 (7.2–10.2), 15.3 (14.1–16.6) and 17.1 (15.1–19.1), respectively. The pooled rates of %EWL at 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months were 31.7 (29.3–34.1), 59.4 (57–61.8) and 63 (51.3–74.6), respectively. The pooled rates of BMI at 1 m, 6 m, and 12 m were 32.6 (31–34.3), 30.4 (29–31.8) and 30 (27.7–32.3, I 2  = 97), respectively. At 12 months, the pooled %TWL, %EWL and BMI with LSG (7 studies, 2179 patients) were 30.5 (27.4–33.5), 69.3 (60.1–78.4) and 29.3 (27.1–31.4) respectively. We aimed to determine the presence of colorectal mucosa microinflammation in vivo via probe-confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) and histological evaluation in IBS patients. Methods  This was a prospective, controlled, nonrandomized single-blind diagnostic trial performed in a tertiary institution. pCLE images and targeted biopsy of each colon segment obtained during colonoscopies of IBS patients and controls were analyzed for inflammatory changes. Biopsies were classified using the Geboes scale, and the odds ratio and overall diagnostic accuracy were calculated. Results  During the 15-month study period, 37 patients were allocated to each group. The mean age was 53.1 ± 14.3 years; 64.9 % were female. Signs of colonic mucosa inflammation were evident on 65.8 % of pCLE images from IBS patients compared to 23.4 % of images from controls (OR 6.28; 4.14-9.52; P   0 was attributed to 60.8 % of biopsies from patients in the IBS group compared to 27.5 % of biopsies from the control group. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, observed and interrater agreement of pCLE-detected inflammatory changes in IBS using histology as gold standard were 76 %, 91 %, 76 %, 91 %, 86.5 %, and 66.8 %, respectively. One of the complications is leaving a strip of rectal mucosa which can be a cause of persistent inflammation or cuffitis. The objective of our study is to present an endoscopic approach for the treatment of cuffitis. Methods  This retrospective study included three patients who suffered from cuffitis after a proctocolectomy with IPAA for UC refractory to medical treatment. An endoscopic resection of the cuffitis was performed by the same operator. Two different techniques were used hybrid endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for one patient and mucosectomy with cap and resection for the two others. Results  The endoscopic treatment was performed successfully in all three patients. The only complication observed was rectal bleeding which did not require endoscopic revision. The three patients are now asymptomatic. Conclusion  Endoscopic treatment of cuffitis appears to be an interesting approach with few complications in the short term and good clinical efficacy.
