CONCLUSION The association between HMDRclin and HDMRecho is moderate in patients without morbid obesity, but negligible in morbidly obese patients. These might be explained by difficulties in palpating anatomical structures of the airway.Five 6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligands bearing N-arylmethaniminyl substituents in the 4- and 4'-positions were prepared by Schiff base condensation in which the aryl group is Ph (1), 4-tolyl (2), 4-tBuC6H4 (3), 4-MeOC6H4 (4), and 4-Me2NC6H4 (5). The homoleptic copper(I) complexes [CuL2][PF6] (L = 1-5) were synthesized and characterized, and the single crystal structure of [Cu(1)2][PF6].Et2O was determined. By using the "surfaces-as-ligands, surfaces-as-complexes" (SALSAC) approach, the heteroleptic complexes [Cu(6)(Lancillary)]+ in which 6 is the anchoring ligand ((6,6'-dimethyl-[2,2'-bipyridine]-4,4'-diyl)bis(4,1-phenylene))bis(phosphonic acid)) and Lancillary = 1-5 were assembled on FTO-TiO2 electrodes and incorporated as dyes into n-type dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Data from triplicate, fully-masked DSCs for each dye revealed that the best-performing sensitizer is [Cu(6)(1)]+, which exhibits photoconversion efficiencies (η) of up to 1.51% compared to 5.74% for the standard reference dye N719. The introduction of the electron-donating MeO and Me2N groups (Lancillary = 4 and 5) is detrimental, leading to a decrease in the short-circuit current densities and external quantum efficiencies of the solar cells. GRL0617 solubility dmso In addition, a significant loss in open-circuit voltage is observed for DSCs sensitized with [Cu(6)(5)]+, which contributes to low values of η for this dye. Comparisons between performances of DSCs containing [Cu(6)(1)]+ and [Cu(6)(4)]+ with those sensitized by analogous dyes lacking the imine bond indicate that the latter prevents efficient electron transfer across the dye.Self-assembly of colloidal monolayers represents a prominent approach to the fabrication of nanostructures. The modification of the shape of colloidal particles is essential in order to enrich the variety of attainable patterns which would be limited by the typical assembly of spherical particles in a hexagonal arrangement. Polymer particles are particularly promising in this sense. In this article, we investigate the deformation of closely-packed polystyrene particles under MeV oxygen ion irradiation at normal incidence using atomic force microscopy (AFM). By developing a procedure based on the fitting of particle topography with quadrics, we reveal a scenario of deformation more complex than the one observed in previous studies for silica particles, where several phenomena, including ion hammering, sputtering, chemical modifications, can intervene in determining the final shape due to the specific irradiation conditions. In particular, deformation into an ellipsoidal shape is accompanied by shrinkage and polymer redistribution with the presence of necks between particles for increasing ion fluence. In addition to casting light on particle irradiation in a regime not yet explored, we present an effective method for the characterization of the colloidal particle morphology which can be applied to describe and understand particle deformation in other regimes of irradiation or with different techniques.Intramuscular fat (IMF) content is closely related to various meat traits, such as tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. The IMF content varies considerably among pig breeds with different genetic backgrounds. Long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs) have been widely identified in many species and found to be an important class of regulators that can participate in multiple biological processes. However, the mechanism behind lincRNAs regulation of pig IMF content remains unknown and requires further study. In our study, we identified a total of 156 lincRNAs in the longissimus dorsi muscle of Wei (fat-type) and Yorkshire (lean-type) pigs using previously published data. These identified lincRNAs have shorter transcript length, longer exon length, lower exon number, and lower expression level as compared with protein-coding transcripts. We predicted potential target genes (PTGs) that are potentially regulated by lincRNAs in cis or trans regulation. Gene ontology and pathway analyses indicated that many potential lincRNAs target genes are involved in IMF-related processes or pathways, such as fatty acid catabolic process and adipocytokine signaling pathway. In addition, we analyzed quantitative trait locus (QTL) sites that differentially expressed lincRNAs (DE lincRNAs) between Wei and Yorkshire pigs co-localized. The QTL sites where DE lincRNAs co-localize are mostly related to IMF content. Furthermore, we constructed a co-expressed network between DE lincRNAs and their differentially expressed PTGs (DEPTGs). On the basis of their expression levels, we suggest that many DE lincRNAs can affect IMF development by positively or negatively regulating their PTGs. This study identified and analyzed some lincRNAs- and PTGs-related IMF development of the two pig breeds and provided new insight into research on the roles of lincRNAs in the two types of breeds.Lactococcus Ceduovirus (formerly c2virus) bacteriophages are among the three most prevalent phage types reported in dairy environments. Phages from this group conduct a strictly lytic lifestyle and cause substantial losses during milk fermentation processes, by infecting lactococcal host starter strains. Despite their deleterious activity, there are limited research data concerning Ceduovirus phages. To advance our knowledge on this specific phage group, we sequenced and performed a comparative analysis of 10 new Lactococcus lactis Ceduovirus phages isolated from distinct dairy environments. Host range studies allowed us to distinguish the differential patterns of infection of L. lactis cells for each phage, and revealed a broad host spectrum for most of them. We showed that 40% of the studied Ceduovirus phages can infect both cremoris and lactis strains. A preference to lyse strains with the C-type cell wall polysaccharide genotype was observed. Phage whole-genome sequencing revealed an average nucleotide identity above 80%, with distinct regions of divergence mapped to several locations.
