Midsleeper Cabin Beds
The mid-sleeper cabin beds are a great solution for storage and play. These beds are great for kids who like to keep their rooms tidy.
Some beds with a mid-sleeper feature the comfort of a cozy living room with a desk that can be pulled out to do homework. Others have drawers and shelving to accommodate toys, books and a laptop.
Features
A midsleeper bed is a great option to make the most space in the room of your child. They typically feature a bed that is slightly elevated and a range of drawers, cupboards and shelving underneath to store all of the childhood paraphernalia. This allows for more space in the room to be used for toys and other bedroom necessities, or for an office where schoolwork and homework can be done.
Many kids' mid-sleeper beds are equipped with amusing accessories that add personality to the room. Oliver Furniture's Loop Midsleeper, for example comes with 9 different curtains for under-beds and 3 frame colours. The themes range from bright and bold to neutral. Additionally, there is the Cube Unit to complement the bed and add extra storage space in a sleek, elegant design.
Skye Playhouse is another well-loved mid-sleeper. This stunning cabin for children bed is made to look like an actual house, complete with roof and windows. This midsleeper for children is not only gorgeous, but also practical, with clever storage in the steps, as well as a personalised plate.
Based on the design, a few beds for children with a midsleeper also have a maximum mattress depth for safety reasons, these information will be clearly stated on the product's webpage. As long as the correct size mattress is used, these kinds of beds are usually safe and secure for your child to climb into and out of at the night.
However, if your child is not comfortable or confident climbing up and down the ladder in the night, you may want to consider an alternative bed. For example a low loft or bunk beds can offer the same sleeping area but with an elevated ladder that is safer and easier to use. This is ideal for children who are young.
A lot of our beds for midsleepers come with conversion kits so that they can be converted into either bunk or a day bed with the click of the button. This gives your child the flexibility to move around the bedroom and expand their use of the furniture as they grow.
Design
Cabin beds and midsleeper bed are designed to be stylish. They transform children's rooms into mini-worlds through clever storage solutions that are space-saving, flexible and fun design options. The Skye Playhouse midsleeper is designed to look just like an actual house, complete with a roof and window. It's beautiful in its classic off-white hue but your child is able to change it by adding curtains or lights to the struts.
Many of our cabin beds also include a range of storage options for low-level use that are perfect for toys and other small items. Some models come with a pull-out table with cubbyholes and shelves beneath, while others have built-in wardrobes that can be used for clothing of smaller sizes. Some models also have built-in shelves and cabinets that can be used for large-format picture books.
Some of our midsleeper beds also include a ladder for accessing the sleeping platform. This is a great choice if your child has mobility issues or isn't old enough to be able to top-sleep. We recommend to assess your child's ability and confidence before considering a high or mid sleeper, and also consider whether a single bed would be better suited until they're older.
This Parisot Midsleeper, with an acacia-colored finish, is the ultimate in practicality. As well as the enclosed elevated sleeping platform that is accessible via the integral steps, this children' midsleeper has a pull out desk with drawers, shelves and shelves included to help keep your little one's room clutter free. This adorable cabin for kids bed also has an end bookcase that can be used to store their most loved books, or in conjunction with beanbags to create a cozy reading space.
Age range
A midsleeper cabin bed is a great option for children between the age of six and fourteen years. Children in this age group can use their imaginations to turn the space under their beds into a space for play or study space, or a place where they can spend some time alone with their favorite books. For older children, some beds, like the Stompa Duo 8 can even transform into a chic desk or workstation.
There are also a variety of storage options beneath your child's bed dependent on the style. It could be in the form of built-in drawers which help to keep their room neat or a bookcase that provides plenty of space for all the books they love. Some of our cabin beds have a a reversible staircase that allows you to adjust the ladder's angle to suit the needs of your child.
Midsleeper beds as well as high sleeper beds are both sturdy and safe for your child to use so long as they are positioned properly in the room. Carpet is the preferred choice. If the bed is set on hard flooring, it is important to make sure there are no obstructions under the bed, for example ceiling fans or light fixtures that could cause your child to fall over or hit their head. To prevent this from happening you should leave a space of 2ft.
While we highly recommend that you assess your child's ability to safely use the top bunk or high sleeper, many experts advise that it's not recommended that children younger than six years old sleep on any loft bed. We realize that this is a personal decision. It is worth looking over the guidelines provided by the manufacturer on each product's page, since they can differ.
If you're looking for a childrens cabin bed that offers an effective storage solution, then we suggest the Kids Avenue Eli D midsleeper. It has a sturdy Scandinavian pine frame and contemporary MDF panels in grey or white. The reversible staircase is placed to the left or the right of the bed. This makes it a flexible option for any bedroom. The under-bed storage is the perfect size to organize toys, books or clothing.
Storage
A cabin bed for kids (also called a mid sleeper or childrens midsleeper) is elevated off the ground and provides an array of storage options beneath. This includes shelves, drawers and occasionally a pull-out desk that can be used as an area to study for homework or other creative projects. Some come with additional features such as a play tent which can be used to transform the space into a play area for their favorite teddies or a tunnel where they can get cozy and sleep. These are ideal for children who love to have a little adventure in their sleeping space.
Choose a sturdy and durable design when choosing a midsleeper for your child. For a long-lasting, durable finish, select a solid wooden frame. Make sure that your choice includes an elongated ladder that is wide enough to give your child an even footing on the way up and down. Some ladders are equipped with rails to ensure safety, whereas others have a more minimalist design that can be stored away when not being used.
You might also want to take into account your child's age and preferred style of storage options, as this can change in time. A bed with storage built-in might be a good option for children who are young, whereas older kids might prefer a more simple design that does not have furniture integrated beneath the mattress for sleeping.
You can also opt for a loft-style high sleeper, which is a more compact option. They are similar to midsleepers, however they tend to be a bit more expensive and can be a bit difficult for younger children to access since they are typically considerably higher off the ground with a steeper ladder.
Both kinds of bunk beds are great for creating multifunctional areas for play, study and sleeping in smaller bedrooms. They also make an excellent option for larger rooms where siblings share and need to keep apart. If cabin bed children's seeking an efficient solution to save space that your child will appreciate, we strongly recommend checking out the Trasman Girona mid-sleeper, which comes with a combination of shelving, storage drawers, cupboard space and a desk that can be pulled out for your young Brainiac.
