Proactive Health Support is a telephone-based self-management intervention that is carried out in Denmark by Registered Nurses who provide self-management support to people at risk of hospital admission. We aimed to explore participants' experiences of Proactive Health Support and to identify what the participants find important and meaningful during the intervention process.

Using a phenomenological-hermeneutical framework, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 62 participants in their own homes (32 women, 30 men; aged 20-81years) in spring and fall 2018.

The participants felt confident that they could discuss every matter with the nurses. Participants benefitted from accessibility to the nurses' professional and medical competences and they felt relief that the nurses contacted them via the telephone due to their multiple health conditions. The participants felt that the nurses were available and helped them to navigate the healthcare system.

The participants valued the intervention because they benefitted from the nurses' holistic approach. They described the nurses' knowledge and professionalism in relation to their symptoms, treatments, and medicine as important and meaningful. Accordingly, the intervention seemed to promote feelings of independence and self-management among the participants.

To assess the prognostic significance of histopathological tumor response in rectal cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

This study included patients with operable rectal cancer who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy using the FOLFOX regimen (5-fluorouracil, l-leucovorin, and oxaliplatin) in a hospital between February 2012 and November 2017. The main outcome measure was disease-free survival with respect to histopathological response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in resected specimens.

The median follow-up was 32 months. Of 48 patients treated with neoadjuvant FOLFOX, 24 (50%) were classified as responders, which included two patients with pathological complete response and 22 patients with partial response. The remaining 24 patients (50%) were classified as nonresponders. Responders had a significantly better 3-year disease-free survival than nonresponders (86% vs. 62%, p = .02).

We reviewed demographics, laboratory and cardiac tests, medications, and cardiac rhythm proximate to death or initiation of comfort care for patients hospitalized with a positive SARS-CoV-2 reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction in three New York City hospitals between March 1 and April 3, 2020 who died. We described clinical characteristics and compared factors contributing toward arrhythmic versus nonarrhythmic death. Of 1258 patients screened, 133 died and were enrolled. Of these, 55.6% (74/133) were male, 69.9% (93/133) were racial/ethnic minorities, and 88.0% (117/133) had cardiovascular disease. The last cardiac rhythm recorded was VT or fibrillation in 5.3% (7/133), pulseless electrical activity in 7.5% (10/133), unspecified bradycardia in 0.8% (1/133), and asystole in 26.3% (35/133). We applied microarray analysis to detect differentially expressed genes of mice with sciatic nerve injury after melatonin application. Then, we conducted gene ontology and protein-protein interactions to screen out the key genes related to peripheral nerve regeneration. Cell biology and molecular biology experiments were performed in Schwann cells in vitro to verify the key genes identified by microarray analysis. Our results showed that a total of 598 differentially expressed genes were detected after melatonin subcutaneously injecting into mice with sciatic nerve injury. Bioinformatics analysis showed that Shh may be the key gene for the promotion of peripheral nerve regeneration by melatonin.
