Are generally pregnant women more secure in auto accidents?
The mortality and morbidity rate of diabetes patients is increasing worldwide which requires an ideal treatment to prevent the disease worsening. Traditional medicine is gaining more attention in diabetes due to its efficacy and safety. We, therefore performed a systematic review study of clinical trials to assess the comparative effect of polyherbal formulations in type 2 Diabetes mellitus.

To find the effectiveness of polyherbal formulations in blood sugar and lipid level for type 2 Diabetes mellitus.

PubMed, Scopus and CINAHL databases for clinical trials investigating the effect of polyherbal formulations in Type 2 Diabetes mellitus patients were searched. Meta-analysis of eligible trials was conducted employing Revman 5.2 software.

Fourteen randomized controlled trials were found eligible for meta-analysis. Meta-analysis of findings showed a significant effect of polyherbal formulations on blood sugar level compared to control group. The estimated standard mean changes at 95% confidence interval,cessary to determine the efficacy of polyherbal formulation in managing diabetes.
Polyherbal formulations occurred to be effective in lowering blood sugar level in Type 2 diabetes but their further efficacy in managing diabetes needs to be validated. Therefore, a qualitative, long term, randomized placebo-controlled trials of adequate sample size are necessary to determine the efficacy of polyherbal formulation in managing diabetes.
Although Electronic tongue is used in pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries for objective evaluation of taste, its use in medicinal plants from an ayurvedic perspective is novel. Control experiments are therefore necessary to standardise and optimise parameters.

The aim is to optimise the use of solvent and standardise sample concentration for study of plants from an ayurvedic standpoint of rasa. The major objectives are two-fold (i) evaluate sensor response to different types of solvent water (ii) explore use of E-tongue in taste ranking of medicinal plants used in ayurveda.

Single, double and triple distilled, reverse osmosis and milliQ waters were evaluated separately and as a medium for preparing plant extracts. For taste ranking, standard addition method using d-glucose as sweet taste standard was used for different brands of mango juices (case in point study) and eight medicinal plants from sweet category. The effect of sample concentration and taste standard on taste ranking were evaluatedontext of ayurvedic rasa based studies.
Sports injuries are the second most common type of accident after domestic (3.7%) and occupational accidents (3.1%). There is an average annual estimate of 8.6 million sports and recreational related injury incidents with an age-adjusted rate of 34.1 per 1000 populations. Common sports injuries are musculoskeletal injuries i.e. Sprains, Strains, Joint injuries, soft tissue injury (STI). The sports injury in Ayurveda can be co-related within dissimilar facets of trauma related ailments.

To evaluate the efficacy of a protocol-based management of common sports injuries using an integrated approach.

Integration of Ayurveda and Physiotherapy procedures was done and phase wise treatment was framed. Total 30 patients of age between 10 and 60 years ful-filling the inclusion criteria were selected for the present study. The patients were treated with Phase wise protocol consisting of three phase's i.e. Inflammatory (1-5 days), Stabilization and recovery (6-10 days), Muscle strengthening (11-17 days). Assessments were done through various variables like pain, tenderness, swelling, local temperature, manual muscle testing (MMT) and range of motion (ROM) at different time points.

Wilcoxon matched pair test was used to assess within group results for subjective parameters and paired t-test (Dependent t-test) was used to assess for objective parameters.

The study showed that integrated treatment approach has given significant results in the parameters like pain, loss of function, tenderness, local temperature, MMT and ROM.

These models of telehealth care offer novel opportunities for advancing pediatric emergency care. In this manuscript, we introduce applications of telehealth in pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) with the pediatric emergency department (ED) both as originating site and distant site. We present barriers to adoption, implementation, and sustaining PEM telehealth programs, as well as strategies to overcome those. We discuss cost and finances as well as policy considerations and implications. Lastly, we review strategies for evaluation to assess program impact and ensure sustainability.
To assess knowledge of diabetes-related eye disease in Australians with type 2 diabetes and its associations with diabetic retinopathy (DR), other ocular complications and vision-related quality of life.

A random sample from the Fremantle Diabetes Study Phase II cohort (n = 360) was invited to participate. Knowledge was assessed using 10 multiple-choice questions covering how diabetes affects the eyes, frequency of ophthalmic screening, risk factors, prevention, available treatments, and prognosis. DR was assessed from fundus photographs. Multiple linear regression was used to identify independent associates of the knowledge score (KS).

We included 264 participants (mean ± SD age 72.1 ± 9.2 years, 56.8% male, median [IQR] diabetes duration 15.4 [11.1-22.3] years). The mean ± SD KS out of 10 was 5.3 ± 1.8. Most (67%) participants knew diabetes can affect the eye and lead to blindness. learn more Only 13.6% knew that DR screening intervals depend on risk factors. Those with moderate non-proliferative DR (NPDR) or worse had a better knowledge score (B = 1.37,P = 0.008) after adjusting for age (B = -0.03, P = 0.004) and education beyond primary school (B = 1.75, P < 0.001).

Overall knowledge of diabetes-related ocular complications was suboptimal. Education targeting eye disease may benefit people with type 2 diabetes who are older, less well educated and/or who have no DR/mild NPDR.
