Differential scanning calorimetry is one of the techniques implemented to map these diagrams. The thermograms of organogels upon heating show broad endotherms, increasing gradually to a maximum, at a temperature Tmax, and decreasing back to the baseline, sometimes 10 °C above. This broadening can lead to uncertainty in determining the molar enthalpies and the melting temperatures Tm of the gels. Herein, we have measured the thermograms of the 12-hydroxystearic acid/nitrobenzene gels for weight fractions ranging from 0.0015 to 0.04. Compared with transition temperatures measured by other techniques, the inflection points of the thermograms provide a measurement of Tm with less bias than Tmax. The phase diagram explains why the molar melting enthalpies derived from the thermograms for samples of low concentration are lower than expected. The shapes of the heat flows below the peak correlate quantitatively with the diagrams after suitable correction and normalization, the integral curves superimpose with the phase diagram in their ascending branch and reach a plateau when the gel is fully melted. The shape of the thermograms upon cooling is also qualitatively explained within the frame of the diagrams.Documented penicillin allergies have been associated with an increased risk of adverse outcomes. The goal of this project was to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of a pharmacist-led penicillin allergy "de-labeling" process that does not involve labor-intensive skin testing or direct oral challenges. Adult patients with penicillin allergies were identified and interviewed by an infectious diseases pharmacy resident during a 3-month pilot period. Using an evidence-based standardized checklist, the pharmacist determined if an allergy qualified for de-labeling. In total, 66 patients were interviewed during the pilot period. The average time spent was 5.2 min per patient interviewed. Twelve patients (18%) met the criteria for de-labeling and consented to the removal of the allergy. Four patients (6%) met the criteria but declined removal of the allergy. In brief, 58.3% of patients (7/12) who were de-labeled and 50% of patients (2/4) who declined de-labeling but had their allergy updated to reflect intolerance were subsequently prescribed beta-lactam antibiotics and all (9/9, 100%) were able to tolerate these agents. A pharmacist-led penicillin allergy de-labeling process utilizing a standardized checklist is an effective and feasible method for removing penicillin allergies in patients without a true allergy.
This study aimed to investigate the association between endocrine therapy and weight gain with a history of breast cancer.
This was a retrospective cohort study. Recruited patients consisted of those receiving endocrine therapy and those not receiving endocrine therapy. Weight at diagnosis was collected from medical records, and current body mass was measured using a digital scale (time since diagnosis was 4.0 ± 1.9 years). Moreover, we measured current physical activity using an accelerometer and dietary intake using a validated questionnaire. The primary analysis was a
-test for the body-mass change after diagnosis between the two groups.
We recruited 300 patients and collected data from 292. Mean weight gain after diagnosis was 1.3 ± 3.9 kg, and the change in body mass of patients taking endocrine therapy (1.3 ± 4.0 kg) was not significantly different from that of patients not taking endocrine therapy (1.4 ± 3.8 kg,
= 0.92). There was no association of endocrine therapy, physical activity, and dietary intake with a 5% weight gain after adjusting confounding factors (e.g., breast cancer stage and chemotherapy).

The eye gene discovery tool iSyTE shows Cse1l to be significantly expressed in the lens from early eye development stages in embryos through adulthood. Cse1l has not previously been shown to be required for organogenesis as homozygosity for a null allele results in very early lethality.
