The Biodemography of love and fertility: A Review and Long term Investigation Frontiers.
2% [10/82]), and epiretinal membrane occurred more after phacovitrectomy than after lens-sparing vitrectomy (28% [23/82] vs. 8.1% [9/111], P<0.001). There was no difference in the occurrence of cystoid macular edema and epiretinal membrane after phacovitrectomy between two surgeon groups (P=0.514, 0.701, respectively).

Combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy has no additional benefit in improving the surgical outcome of primary RRD management. Considering the intra-and postoperative complications and the relatively low success rate, phacovitrectomy may not be a desirable option in inexperienced surgeons.

Mesenteric panniculitis (MP) is a rare, benign, and nonspecific chronic fibrosing inflammation of the mesenteric adipose tissue. Abdominal pain is the most frequent presentation. The objective was to recognize ultrasound (US) features in MP. A retrospective 9-year review of computed tomography- (CT) or US-diagnosed cases of MP recorded in the radiology department was performed. The inclusion criteria included an US recorded in PACS imaging data base within 10 days before CT, to compare and evaluate the correlation of MP diagnosis. The prevalence of MP on CT was 2.8%. The 120 selected patients had an abdominal US 10 days before CT. Male-to-female ratio was 41. Fifty-three percent of MP was suggested by US. The US finding was increased volume with fatty mass in the mesentery root (98%). The fatty mesenteric mass had oval shape or convex anterior border in 94%, central abdominal location in 91%, and focal mesenteric increased echogenicity in 95%. Lateral bowel loop displacement was observed in 59%. Detection of e with fatty mass in the mesentery root (98%). Lateral bowel loop displacement was observed in 59%. find more Detection of lymph nodes was less frequent (55%).In conclusion, MP is an entity to be considered in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain. Knowledge and recognition of the US findings of MP and central abdominal compression may improve detection during the abdominal US examination.
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an artificial intelligence (AI) support system on breast ultrasound diagnostic accuracy. In this Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-compliant, institutional review board-approved retrospective study, 200 lesions (155 benign, 45 malignant) were randomly selected from consecutive ultrasound-guided biopsies (June 2017-January 2019). Two readers, blinded to clinical history and pathology, evaluated lesions with and without an Food and Drug Administration-approved AI software. Lesion features, Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) rating (1-5), reader confidence level (1-5), and AI BI-RADS equivalent (1-5) were recorded. Statistical analysis was performed for diagnostic accuracy, negative predictive value, positive predictive value (PPV), sensitivity, and specificity of reader versus AI BI-RADS. Generalized estimating equation analysis was used for reader versus AI accuracy regarding lesion features and AI impact on low-confidence score lesis were conducted at a 2-sided 5% significance level. There was no significant difference in accuracy (73 vs 69.8%), negative predictive value (100% vs 98.5%), PPV (45.5 vs 42.4%), sensitivity (100% vs 96.7%), and specificity (65.2 vs 61.9; P = 0.118-0.409) for AI versus pooled reader assessment. Artificial intelligence was more accurate than readers for irregular shape (74.1% vs 57.4%, P = 0.002) and less accurate for round shape (26.5% vs 50.0%, P = 0.049). Artificial intelligence improved diagnostic accuracy for reader-rated low-confidence lesions with increased PPV (24.7% AI vs 19.3%, P = 0.004) and specificity (57.8% vs 44.6%, P = 0.008).Artificial intelligence decision support aid may help improve sonographic diagnostic accuracy, particularly in cases with low reader confidence, thereby decreasing false-positives.
This study aimed to investigate the application value of shear wave elastography in examining normal testes and inflammatory epididymal tail masses.

We examined 110 healthy male volunteers (with a total of 220 testes) and 25 patients with epididymitis via conventional scrotal ultrasonography and shear wave elastography. The mean (Emean), minimal (Emin), maximal (Emax), and standard deviation (ESD) values of elasticity were acquired. The inflammatory masses were assessed at initial diagnosis, at weeks 1 and 2 of standard anti-inflammatory treatment, upon remission, and at 2 weeks after remission.

The Emean values of different regions in testes varied in the following order center region (3.14 ± 0.35 kPa) < upper- or lower-pole capsule (upper, 3.94 ± 0.90 kPa; lower, 3.94 ± 0.97 kPa) < posterior capsule (5.96 ± 1.46 kPa) < anterior capsule (6.27 ± 1.58 kPa). The Emean value of the center of the testicular parenchyma in the short axis was significantly larger than that in the long axis (3.47 ± 0.32 vs 3.14 ± 0.35 kPa; P < 0.05). There were significant differences in the Emean value between inflammatory epididymal tail masses at initial diagnosis, at 1 and 2 weeks after treatment, upon remission, and at 2 weeks after remission (P < 0.05).

Shear wave elastography can be used to reflect the relative hardness of normal testes and inflammatory epididymal tail masses.

There is lack of data on feasibility and safety of kidney transplants from living donors who recovered from COVID-19.

Here, we present a retrospective cohort study of 31 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) from living donors who recovered from polymerase chain reaction confirmed COVID-19 across 19 transplant centers in India from July 3, 2020, to December 5, 2020. We detailed demographics, clinical manifestations, immunosuppression regimen, treatment, and outcomes. Donors with a previous diagnosis of COVID-19 were accepted after documenting 2 negative polymerase chain reaction tests with complete symptom resolution for at least 28 days and significant social distancing for 14 days before surgery.

COVID-19 clinical severity in donors ranged from completely asymptomatic (71%, n = 22) to mild infection (29%, n = 9). None progressed to moderate or severe stages of the disease in the entire clinical course of home treatment. Patient and graft survival was 100%, respectively, with acute cellular rejection being reported in 6.
