The aim of this study was to describe a series of patients with LGV treated in a public health service hospital in Andalusia, Spain.
Retrospective, observational description of a series of patients diagnosed with LGV. We gathered epidemiologic, clinical, microbiologic, and treatment data. Patients' sexual behaviors were also noted.

We found 17 cases of LGV diagnosed in MSM between October 2016 and May 2019. Twelve of the patients were also infected with the human immunodeficiency virus, and 13 had severe proctitis with ulcers in the anal canal and rectum. Four patients had genital or inguinal manifestations. The following high-risk sexual behaviors were on reo preventing complications and disease transmission.Nitrogen is one of the most important nutrients for wheat growth and has a critical influence on yield and quality. This study aims to examine how medium nitrogen level (240 kg/hm2) affects the starch granule development, starch accumulation, and structural characteristics of wheat starch. The results showed that nitrogen treatment could reduce the biosynthesis of starch and amylose, delay the degradation of starch in pericarp, and promote the proportion of B-type small starch granule in endosperm compared with those in the N0. In addition, the composition and distribution of starch granules were changed, the crystal structure in the inner lamellae and ordered structure in the external region of starch granules were affected, and the swelling power and solubility of starch during wheat development were increased. The effect of nitrogen treatment on the mRNA expression of enzymes related to starch biosynthesis or degradation varied in different developmental stages. During middle and later grain filling stages, AGPase, GBSSI, and GBSSII were lower, and SSS, SBE, and DBE were higher in N240 than in N0. This study indicated that nitrogen application at booting stage significantly affected the structural characteristics of starch, and ultimately determines its quality.Alpha-amylase producing strain KB 2216 was identified as Bacillus velezensis. The growth pattern showed that 72 h is the optimum incubation period of amylase production, which is a stationary period for the strain. By the purification process, maximum alpha-amylase activity was achieved up to 418.25 U/mL at 72 h of incubation, which was purified with 4.74 folds, 4230.32 U/mg specific activity, with 31.35% yield. The strain was found to produce an oligomeric alpha-amylase, namely Amy3. Amy3 was a trimeric macromolecule of 195 kDa with 62, 64, and 66 kDa subunits, as revealed by zymogram and SDS PAGE analyses. Amy3 was highly active at 55 °C and pH 5.5. It had shown the highest stability at pH 5.0-5.5 and between 0 ̊C and 4 ̊C. It did not require any metal cofactors, but it was inhibited by Ag2+, Hg2+ and Cd2+ divalent cations. Glucose and maltose were shown to be the end products of soluble starch digestion by Amy3. These interesting properties of Amy3 may be useful for many biotechnological applications in the future.The present paper describes the synthesis of a novel magnetic chitosan (CCF), in which the carbon-Fe3O4 core-shell nanoparticles play the role of magnetic part. The structure, property and morphology of the magnetic CCF were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, EDAX, SEM and BET techniques. Its adsorption performance was investigated for the removal of methyl orange from aqueous solutions by varying experimental conditions. The results showed the fast adsorption of methyl orange in wide pH range of 3-11 and the maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 425 mg g-1 at 45 °C. The results of adsorption kinetics indicated that the adsorption mechanism was better described by the pseudo-second-order equation, whereas pore diffusion is the rate-controlling of adsorption kinetics. Furthermore, among different isotherm models, Langmuir and Sips isotherm models fitted well the equilibrium experimental data at different temperatures revealing the surface heterogeneity of the adsorbents. The adsorbent exhibited high adsorption performance, compared to the some other chitosan adsorbents reported in literatures.Chondroitinases degrade chondroitin sulfate (CS) into oligosaccharides, of which the biological activities have vital roles in various fields. Some chondroitinases in polysaccharide lyase family 8 (PL8) have been classified into four subfamilies (PL8_1, PL8_2, PL8_3, and PL8_4) based on their sequence similarity and substrate specificities. In this study, a gene, vpa_0049, was cloned from marine bacterium Vibrio sp. QY108. The encoded protein, Vpa_0049, did not belong to the four existing subfamilies in PL8 based on phylogenetic analysis. Vpa_0049 could degrade various glycosaminoglycans (CS-A, CS-B, CS-C, CS-D, and HA) into unsaturated disaccharides in an endolytic manner, which was different from PL8 lyases of four existing subfamilies. The maximum activity of Vpa_0049 on different glycosaminoglycan substrates appeared at 30-37 °C and pH 7.0-8.0 in the presence of NaCl. Vpa_0049 showed approximately 50% of maximum activity towards CS-B and HA at 0 °C. Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester It was stable in alkaline conditions (pH 8.0-10.6) and 0-30 °C. Our study provides a new broad-substrate chondroitinase and presents an in-depth understanding of PL8.Antifungal proteins (AFPs) offer a great potential as new biofungicides to control deleterious fungi. The phytopathogenic fungus Penicillium expansum encodes three phylogenetically distinct AFPs, PeAfpA, PeAfpB and PeAfpC. Here, PeAfpA, a potent in vitro self-inhibitory protein, was demonstrated to control the infection caused by P. expansum in Golden apple fruits. We determined the production of the three proteins in different growth media. PeAfpA and PeAfpC were simultaneously produced by P. expansum in three out of the eight media tested as detected by Western blot, whereas PeAfpB was not detected even in those described for class B AFP production. Regardless of the culture medium, the carbon source affected Peafp expression. Notably, the production of PeAfpA was strain-dependent, but analyses of PeafpA regulatory sequences in the three strains studied could not explain differences in protein production. None of the PeAFPs was produced during apple infection, suggesting no relevant role in pathogenesis. PeAfpA together with PeAfpB and also with Penicillium digitatum PdAfpB showed synergistic interaction.
