To assess the association between commonly obtained endoscopic and serologic data and bronchoalveolar lavage pepsin assay (BAL) results in children with chronic cough.
We performed a retrospective chart review of 72 children with a BAL pepsin obtained through our Aerodigestive Center over an 18-month period. BAL outcomes include evidence of viral, bacterial, or fungal infection, presence of lipid-laden macrophages, and cytology (eosinophils, neutrophils, and lymphocytes). Gastrointestinal outcomes include esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and pH impedance probe findings. Other characteristics include serum eosinophils, neutrophils, and lymphocytes; spirometry; FeNO; and IgE.
Seventy-two patients underwent BAL pepsin testing. Median age was 4.9 years, 30.6% had severe persistent asthma, and 59.2% were on reflux medication. There was an association between positive BAL pepsin assay and positive viral panel (p = .002) or fungal culture (p = .027). No significant association found between positive BAL bacterpsin is obtained.
The objective of the study was to evaluate the serum levels of tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 in chronic HBV-infected patients.
The present study was a single centre, prospective and randomised controlled trial. Twenty healthy volunteers and thirty HBeAg-negative patients with planned liver biopsy and treatment-naive diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) were included in the study. TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 levels were measured in the serum of CHB patient and control groups using an ELISA. Results were compared statistically using a Mann-Whitney U test.
The mean age of the CHB group (20 men, 10 women) and the control group (10 men, 10 women) was 33.3±9.7 (17-55) and 26.1±12.3 (16-57), respectively. When the two groups were compared with the Mann-Whitney U-test, TNF-α and IL-6 levels were found to be significantly higher in the CHB group compared to the control group (P=.003, P<.0001, respectively). Although IL-1β levels were not statistically significant, they were higher in the CHB group compared to the controls (P=.07).
The results of our study showed that serum levels of TNF-α and IL-6 are increased in CHB patients.

To determine the relationship of nursing work environment and innovation support with nurses' innovative behaviours and innovation outputs.
According to the social exchange theory, nursing work environment must be regulated to support innovation for nurses' innovative behaviours, which results in useful innovation outputs.
The sample of the research determined using the convenience sampling method consisted of 618 nurses working in four hospitals in Istanbul. AZD0095 In statistical analysis of the data, descriptive analyses, correlation and linear regression analysis were used.
It was found a significant correlation between nursing work environment and innovation support with innovative behaviour and innovation outputs. It was found that innovative behaviour was the variable that had a significant impact on nurses' innovation outputs and that the model explained 40.1% of the variance of innovation outputs. The model created for innovative behaviour was determined to have an explanatory variance of 19.4%.
This study reveals the necessity for developing nurses' innovative behaviours to increase innovation outputs and examines the relationship of nurses' innovative behaviours with nursing work environment and innovation support.
Nurse managers should create a nursing work environment that supports and develops nurses' innovative behaviours.

This study compared the ability of four remineralization agents to restore demineralised enamel lesions in permanent human incisors.
In total, 40 teeth were included in the study. Two samples were obtained from each tooth. The 80 samples were divided into 10 groups (n=8 per group). The right halves of the teeth were controls solely subjected to demineralisation and stored in artificial saliva for the duration of the experiment. The left halves of the teeth were remineralised using a 5% NaF-containing fluoride varnish (GC MI varnish; GC Corp.), a toothpaste containing casein phosphopeptide and amorphous calcium (GC tooth mousse; GC Corp.), a water-soluble remineralisation paste containing fluoride, hydroxyapatite, xylitol (Remin Pro; Voco), and ROCS remineralising gel containing Ca, magnesium(Mg) and phosphate (P). After 21days of remineralisation, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) assessments were performed, and the results were analysed using one-way analysis of variance.
EDX analysis showed that the ROCS medical remineralising gel had the lowest Ca/P ratio among the groups (P = .04). Compared with the control groups, the Remin Pro and ROCS medical remineralising gel treatments produced significantly higher Ca/P ratios (P=.014 and P=.025). These results were statistically significant, and P-value <.05 was accepted for statistical significance.
The group treated with a fluoride-free, xylitol-containing ROCS medical remineralising gel had the lowest Ca/P ratio. Compared with the control groups, Remin Pro and ROCS remineralising gel appeared effective for repairing initial enamel lesions.

These amphiphiles are the major constituents of the membranes of numerous Archaea, some of which are extremophilic organisms. Due to their unique structures, there has been significant interest in studying both the biophysical properties and the biosynthesis of these molecules. However, these studies have thus far been hampered by limited access to chemically pure samples. Herein, we report a concise and stereoselective synthesis of the archaeal tetraether lipid parallel GDGT-0 and the synthesis and self-assembly of derivatives bearing different polar groups.
