Optical synthetic aperture imaging systems, which consist of in-phase circular sub-mirrors, can greatly improve the spatial resolution of a space telescope. Due to the sub-mirrors' dispersion and sparsity, the modulation transfer function is decreased significantly compared to a fully filled aperture system, which causes obvious blurring and loss of contrast in the collected image. Image restoration is the key to get the ideal clear image. In this paper, an appropriative non-blind deconvolution algorithm for image restoration of optical synthetic aperture systems is proposed. A synthetic aperture convolutional neural network (CNN) is trained as a denoiser prior to restoring the image. By improving the half-quadratic splitting algorithm, the image restoration process is divided into two subproblems deconvolution and denoising. The CNN is able to remove noise in the gradient domain and the learned gradients are then used to guide the image deconvolution step. Compared with several conventional algorithms, scores of evaluation indexes of the proposed method are the highest. When the signal to noise ratio is 40 dB, the average peak signal to noise ratio is raised from 23.7 dB of the degraded images to 30.8 dB of the restored images. The structural similarity index of the results is increased from 0.78 to 0.93. Both quantitative and qualitative evaluations demonstrate that the proposed method is effective. We propose a well-integrated, high-efficiency, high-precision, and non-destructive differential confocal measurement method for the multi-geometric parameters of the inner and outer spherical surfaces of laser fusion capsules. Based on the laser differential confocal measurement system with high tomography fixed-focus ability and high spatial resolution, the proposed method is used to perform the fixed-focus trigger measurement of the outer vertex, the inner vertex, and the spherical center of the capsule. From the rotation measurement around the Y-axis and the transposition measurement around the Z-axis, the inner and outer diameters, the three-dimensional inner and outer profiles, the shell thickness uniformity, and the shell non-concentricity of the capsule are measured with high precision and no damage. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first method to achieve the high-precision measurement for the multi-geometric parameters of the capsule inner and outer spherical surfaces with the same instrument. The dynamic Coarse Integral Holography (CIH) display demonstrated previously can scan the low space bandwidth product (SBP) holographic images delivered by a high bandwidth spatial light modulator (SLM) to form a hologram array for angular tiling of the 3D images for a large field-of-view but only a modest size despite the utilization of the full bandwidth of the SLM in use. In this paper, we propose a scalable approach using seamless spatial tiling of the full bandwidth images generated by two high bandwidth SLMs using a resonant scanner and a high performance galvanometric scanner for a scalable CIH display capable of achieving twice of the final image size and doubled horizontal field-of-view (FOV). A proof-of-concept system is demonstrated with integrated full-parallax holographic 3D images. JZL184 inhibitor The proposed method has the potential to tile images generated by more than two SLMs for scalable large size and wide FOV holographic displays. The monotonicity of depth in a geometric constraint based absolute phase unwrapping is analyzed and a monotonic discriminant of Δ(uc,vc) is presented in this paper. The sign of the discriminant determines the distance selection for the virtual plane to create the artificial absolute phase map for a given structured light system. As Δ(uc,vc) ≥ 0 at an arbitrary point on the CCD pixel coordinates the minimum depth distance is selected for the virtual plane, and the maximum depth distance is selected as Δ(uc,vc) ≤ 0. Two structured light systems with different signs of the monotonic discriminant are developed and the validity of the theoretical analysis is experimentally demonstrated. For some industrial underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) applications, the transmission distance matters more than the communication rate. Attenuation length (AL) is an important distance indicator of UWOC system. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, the spread spectrum (SS) technology is firstly applied in a UWOC system and the capability to extend transmission distance or AL is demonstrated. A 42-m UWOC is experimentally demonstrated with 6.68 ALs. Compared with the conventional not-return-to-zero on-off-keying (NRZ-OOK) modulation scheme, the proposed SS scheme with a spread spectrum gain (SSG) of 5 achieves an AL extension by 0.51 and 0.81, respectively, with the same data rate and bandwidth. And the minimum required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is reduced by 9 dB to as low as -0.8 dB. Besides, the feature of the SS scheme that could work in a bandwidth-limited long-reach underwater channel without the equalization process is experimentally demonstrated.Visible light communications (VLC) can utilize light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide illumination and a safe and low-cost broadcasting network simultaneously. In the past decade, there has been a growing interest in using organic LEDs (OLEDs) for soft lighting and display applications in public places. Organic electronics can be mechanically flexible, thus the potential of curved OLED panels/displays devices. This paper provides unique characteristics of a flexible OLED-based VLC link in a shopping mall. We show that, for curved OLED the radiation pattern displays a symmetry, which is wider than Lambertian. A number of scenarios of VLC system with flexible OLED are analyzed. Numerical models for the delay spread and optical path loss are derived, which followed a 2-term power series model for both empty and furnished rooms. We show that using a full-circular OLED for both empty and furnished rooms offers a uniform distribution of emitted power for the same transmission link spans. The link performance using full and half-circular OLED in an empty room shows that the average optical path losses are lower by 5 and 4 dB, compared with the furnished room.
