71 ± 2.58 and 8.62 ± 1.39, respectively (p less then 0.001). Conclusion We determined that NMC time was significantly higher in HP-positive patients when compared with HP-negative patients, and the NMC times went back to normal after eradicating the HP infection. Because NMC dysfunction plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), we propose that eradication of HP can have positive effects on the prognosis of CRS. Further studies are needed to establish this relationship. For various end-stage lung diseases, lung transplantation remains one of the only viable treatment options. While the demand for lung transplantation has steadily risen over the last few decades, the availability of donor grafts is limited, which have resulted in progressively longer waiting lists. In the early years of lung transplantation, only the 'ideal' donor grafts are considered for transplantation. Due to the donor shortages, there is ongoing discussion about the safe use of 'suboptimal' grafts to expand the donor pool. GS9973 In this review, we will discuss the considerations around donor selection, donor-recipient matching, graft preparation and graft optimisation.Skin tests are the gold standard for detecting the culprit drug of anaphylaxis, and should ideally be performed after an interval of 4-6 weeks after the reaction to avoid false-negative results. However, when re-operation cannot be delayed and early allergy tests are necessary, special attention is required during subsequent anesthesia, because early skin tests tend to produce false-negative results. This report presents a case of rocuronium-induced anaphylaxis in which early skin tests showed negative results for all the drugs tested. The second anesthesia was safely performed by avoiding all the drugs used for the first anesthesia. Ultimately, skin tests and basophil activation tests (BATs) performed after re-operation demonstrated rocuronium as the drug responsible for anaphylaxis. We recommend performing BATs in addition to skin tests to improve the accuracy of diagnosis of anaphylaxis. In this report, we also discuss interpretation of the results of early skin tests and subsequent selection of drugs for anesthesia. After postponement of surgery due to anaphylaxis, we are often required to perform allergy tests at an early stage if re-operation cannot be delayed. In such cases, skin test results alone should not be used to guide subsequent anesthesia management to avoid recurrent anaphylaxis. Background We sought to determine structure and changes in organisation and bed capacities of certified German chest pain units (CPU) in response to the emergency plan set-up as a response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Methods and results The study was conducted in the form of a standardised telephone interview survey in certified German CPUs. Analyses comprised the overall setting of the CPU, bed capacities, possibilities for ventilation, possible changes in organisation and resources, chest pain patient admittance, overall availability of CPUs and bail-out strategies. The response rate was 91%. Nationwide, CPU bed capacities decreased by 3% in the early phase of COVID-19 pandemic response, exhibiting differences within and between the federal states. Pre-pandemic and pandemic bed capacities stayed below 1 CPU bed per 50,000 inhabitants. 97% of CPUs were affected by internal reorganisation pandemic plans at variable extent. While we observed a decrease of CPU beds within an emergency room (ER) set-up and on intermediate care units (ICU), beds in units being separated from ER and ICU were even increased in numbers. Conclusions Certified German CPUs are able to maintain adequate coverage for chest pain patients in COVID-19 pandemic despite structural changes. However, at this time, it appears important to add operating procedures during pandemic outbreaks to the certification criteria of forthcoming guidelines either at the individual CPU level or more centrally steered by the German Cardiac Society or the European Society of Cardiology. The adaptive capacity (AC) of social systems to degradation of ecosystem services is defined as the response capacity of the system to a threat, such as changes in supply and delivery of ecosystem services (ES). In this paper, we propose an adaptive capacity composite indicator vis-a-vis the loss or degradation of ecosystem services that can be evaluated at household level in rural areas. For the estimation of the AC composite indicator, we evaluated 16 variables grouped into six categories that were previously validated with a group of experts in the area. The variables were evaluated in ten types of household profiles identified in relation with the services of water provision and erosion control in the Riogrande Basin in Colombia. The composite indicator is built both through experts' focus groups to find weights of the variables and categories and principal component analysis. In both methods, variables such as institutional efficiency, distribution and availability of information, technology and innovation, as well as local ecological knowledge were the main determinants of AC of the households.A method is described for cysteine (Cys) determination on paper-based analytical devices using aspartic acid modified gold nanoparticles (Asp-AuNPs). The Asp-AuNPs were characterized by their size, zeta potential, and UV-visible absorption spectrum. After the addition of Cys, it will interact with Asp-AuNPs selectively and leads to the aggregation of Asp-AuNPs. A color change from red to blue can be observed on the paper-based analytical devices. The results were recorded using a cell phone and subsequently analyzed using the Photoshop software. The ratiometric color intensity at red channel and blue channel (Red/Blue) increased linearly in the range 99.9-998.7 μM for Cys (R = 0.9984), and the limit of detection was 1.0 μM. The effects of assay conditions have been investigated and are discussed. The Cys concentration was determined as (0.27 ± 0.02 mM) in human plasma, and the recovery was from 99.2 to 101.1%. Graphical abstract Schematic representation of the paper-based assay system using aspartic acid modified gold nanoparticles (Asp-AuNPs).
