Overweight and obesity among children and adolescents are emerging public health problems. Modifiable lifestyle factors such as physical inactivity and eating out are responsible for the increased prevalence of obesity and related health risks.

To examine physical activity level and weight status among Saudi children in relation to age and gender.

In a cross-sectional study, 200 apparently healthy Saudi children (118 boys and 82 girls), aged 5-15 years, were enrolled from the Pediatric clinics at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. To determine physical activity level, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form-A was used. Anthropometric measurements were taken for all participants.

Central obesity was highly prevalent among adolescents as compared with a higher prevalence of general obesity in children. Physical activity level was significantly higher among adolescent boys than adolescent girls (
<.05). Girls scored almost double the total metabolic equivalvity and weight status among Saudi children.
Standardized written guidelines and protocols in NICU are known to impact neonatal outcomes and improve survival.

To study and compare the morbidity and mortality outcomes of very low birth weight (VLBW) neonates before and after introduction of structured approach to standardized management guidelines on four interventions in a tertiary care hospital in North India.

Structured approach to standardized management guidelines on four interventions were implemented for VLBW infants in NICU. a) Humidified and Heated High Flow Nasal Cannula (HHHFNC) as the initial mode of ventilator support in preterm VLBW babies. b) Expressed breast milk for feeding preterm VLBW babies and absolutely no formula milk. c) Hand washing and following "Bundle Care Approach" for Central lines as the cardinal cornerstones for maintaining strict asepsis. this website d) Development and supportive care to be regularly followed. Data was collected prospectively from July 2015 to December 2016 (Intervention Group) and compared with retrospective matched controls from the previous year (July 2014-June 2015) (Control Group).

There was a significant decrease in culture positive sepsis in the intervention group compared to control group (3 (2.97%) CI0.006-0.08 vs 11 (19.64%) CI0.10-0.32;
= .0004). There was no significant difference in the mortality (5.35% vs3.96%
= .74) amongst the two groups.

Implementing structured approach to above mentioned interventions in the form of standardized management guidelines for preterm VLBW neonates was associated with significant reduction in culture proven sepsis and mechanical ventilation days without affecting mortality or other co-morbidities.

Increasing demands from public and private healthcare coupled with national initiatives in patient-oriented research has led to an increase in avenues to allow patients to be directly involved in research. In particular, the push towards participation of children and youth has resulted in the formation of pediatric patient advisory groups with broad partnerships and consultation requests across the globe. However, there is a lack of evidence to examine the challenges in formation and training of young persons' advisory groups (YPAGs) and management processes required thereafter.

This study's purpose is to document YPAG formation and training protocols around the world, highlight common strengths, and evaluate pitfalls and challenges. The results from this study will subsequently inform the development of standardized training protocols for children and youth to be piloted globally.

In this study, 17 select YPAG team leaders from 7 countries were surveyed to determine current training techniques used witin preparation for national and international research consultations. This low barrier framework may be of special interest to lower-middle-income countries who wish to encourage community participation in healthcare.
Fatigue is one of the most debilitating and prevalent symptoms in pediatric cancer patients and it is important to know if nurses are able to recognize and manage it. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge and attitudes towards fatigue of nurses working in Italian pediatric onco-hematology centers.

Cross-sectional online survey. An existing questionnaire was adapted to the Italian context, extended with a section on attitudes, and psychometrically tested. The questionnaire was sent to all nurses working in Italian pediatric onco-hematology centers.

Respondents (n=189), who were working in 37/53 (∼70%) centers, reported 42% of children and 68% of adolescents experiencing fatigue, with intensity increasing with age. Contributing factors were treatments and co-morbidities; frequent symptoms were mood changes and lack of energy. Among respondents who did not assess fatigue, 36.2% did not know an appropriate tool. Nurses recognized fatigue as an important problem and their knowledge and attitudes towards fatigue seemed satisfactory.

This study provides nurses with an instrument to investigate their knowledge and attitudes about fatigue. Nurses' awareness of the significance of fatigue is a fundamental step towards improving its management and offering strategies that can help both the child and their family.

There are various causes and associated conditions in anomalous bands. Idiopathic congenital anomalous bands are extremely rare. The use of the term "congenital bands" may, in reality, not describe the same situation. The study aims to report our series of idiopathic anomalous bands and proposes an accurate and consistent classification of anomalous bands in order to clarify the origin of each band.

This study, conducted from January 2005 to January 2018, included all patients admitted to the emergency departments with a clinical diagnosis of intestinal obstruction resulting from bands that have no identifiable embryological or acquired basis called "idiopathic". Recorded operative findings included the site of obstruction and the operative procedure to relieve it.

The sample consists of seven boys and three girls with age range from one day to 9 years with symptoms and signs indicative of intestinal obstruction. Surgical intervention was performed, and intraoperative findings revealed a thick and vascularized idiopathic band, in different locations, which was responsible for intestinal obstruction in all patients.
