poxanthine, inosine, homocysteine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan and lysine, may serve as candidate markers to indicate the differences in shrimp from different production systems.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) exert pivotal effects on regulating the progression of osteosarcoma (OS). It was found through microarray analysis that circ-0002052 is abnormally expressed in OS, but the role of circ-0002052 in OS remains obscure. The results of this research manifested that relative to that in non-tumor controls, circ-0002052 level was raised in OS tissues. Up-regulated circ-0002052 was associated with advanced stage, tumor size, and metastasis. Additionally, circ-0002052 elevation indicated a low survival rate in OS patients and silencing of circ-0002052 suppressed proliferation, migration, and invasion of OS cells. It was proved that circ-0002052 sponged miR-382 and stimulated STX6 expression, thus activating Wnt/β-catenin. The function of circ-0002052 reduction in OS cells was effectively reversed by miR-382 suppression. To sum up, it can be concluded that circ-0002052, functioning as a sponge for miR-382, enhances the activation of Wnt/β-catenin mediated by STX6 to stimulate the progression of OS, and circ-0002052 may be an underlying treatment target and a biomarker for prognosis of osteosarcoma.StarD13 is a tumor suppressor and a GTPase activating protein (GAP) for Rho GTPases. Thus, StarD13 regulates cell survival pathways and induces apoptosis in a p53-dependent and independent manners. In tumors, StarD13 is either downregulated or completely inhibited, depending on the tumor type. As such, and through the dysregulation of Rho GTPases, this affects adhesion dynamics, actin dynamics, and leads to an increase or a decrease in tumor metastasis depending on the tumor grade and type. Being a key regulatory protein, StarD13 is a potential promising candidate for therapeutic approaches. This paper reviews the key characteristics of this protein and its role in tumor malignancies.Synovial sarcoma is a rare malignancy of mesenchymal origin, characterized by a chromosomal translocation, t(X;18) (p11.2;q11.2). Wide surgical resection with radiation and cytotoxic chemotherapy is established as a standard treatment; however synovial sarcoma remains a high-grade sarcoma with poor prognosis, and novel anti-cancer agents and immunological approaches are currently being developed. The patient-derived cell line is a critical tool for basic and pre-clinical research. However, only a few patient-derived synovial sarcoma cell lines are publicly available from cell banks. Thus, the aim of this study was to establish and characterize a novel cell line for synovial sarcoma. Using a surgically resected tumor tissue from a 48-year-old female patient, we successfully established a cell line, named NCC-SS3-C1. NCC-SS3-C1 cells harbor an SS18-SSX1 fusion gene and exhibit moderate growth, spheroid formation, and invasion. We examined a range of proliferation-inhibiting effects of small molecule anti-cancer compounds, including FDA-approved anti-cancer drugs, using NCC-SS3-C1 cells, and identified anti-cancer drugs which inhibited the proliferation of NCC-SS3-C1 cells at the low concentration. We concluded that NCC-SS3-C1 would be a useful tool for basic and pre-clinical synovial sarcoma research.INTRODUCTION Early access to cancer palliative care is recommended. Descriptions of structures and processes of outpatient palliative care clinics operated within smaller hospitals are scarce. This paper presents the development and operation of a fully integrated cancer and palliative care outpatient clinic at a local hospital in a rural region of Mid-Norway offering palliative care concurrent with cancer treatment. A standardized care pathway was applied. selleck kinase inhibitor METHODS Palliative care is in Norway part of the public healthcare system. Official recommendations recent years point out action points to improve delivery of palliative care. An integrated cancer and palliative care outpatient clinic at a local hospital and an innovative care delivery model was developed and operated in this setting. Patients were recruited for a descriptive study of the patient population. Clinical data were collected by clinical staff and 13 symptom intensities were reported by the patients. RESULTS Cancer and palliative care were provlosely with the other hospital departments and with community health and care services. This was needed to be able to offer palliative care to all cancer patients in need of it, and closer to their home. Many of the patients attending the integrated outpatient clinic could not be cured for their cancer. They did not have many symptoms of their cancer, and they had a high functional status. This demonstrated that the integrated outpatient clinic in this local hospital was a relevant place to offer palliative care early and concurrent with cancer treatment before symptoms became severe.BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs) have been widely studied in schizophrenia and evidence suggests that they could be also used for the treatment of bipolar and schizoaffective disorders. Nonetheless, there are no studies evaluating their role in other psychiatric disorders. We aimed to evaluate the use of the newest monthly and 3-monthly LAIs-aripiprazole once monthly, paliperidone 1- and 3-monthly (PP1M, PP3M)-against the 2-weekly LAIs, using the following clinical outcomes (1) the number of hospital re-admissions, (2) the number of documented suicidal behaviors/attempts, and (3) the use of concomitant treatments, including benzodiazepines, oral antipsychotics, and biperiden. METHODS A total of 431 patients were included who were treated with the corresponding LAI over at least 12 months and were previously diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. Statistical analyses were performed using an ANCOVA model, Student's t test, and the Pearson's r test. RESULTS Our results showed significantly decreased re-admissions using PP3M versus the bi-weekly LAIs and aripiprazole once monthly, while no significant differences were found in suicidal behavior. Furthermore, we found a significantly lower intake of benzodiazepines in PP1M and PP3M groups versus the bi-weekly and aripiprazole once-monthly groups. In addition, patients treated with PP1M and PP3M used a significantly lower dose of haloperidol equivalents versus the bi-weekly LAIs group. Finally, significantly higher doses of biperiden were used by the bi-weekly LAIs group. CONCLUSION In conclusion, paliperidone LAIs reduced hospital re-admissions and, as aripiprazole once monthly, lowered concomitant psychiatric medication versus the bi-weekly LAIs. Further research and analysis of subgroups are needed; however, these findings might be useful for clinicians.
