These findings suggested that SeNPs synthesized by K. lactis GG799 may be a promising and safe Se supplement for the prevention and treatment of IBD.In this work, the effects of sulfated polysaccharides from Lentinula edodes (SPLE) on zymosan (ZYM)-induced multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) mice were investigated. Using the MODS mice model, biochemical works have already shown that in mice treated with SPLE, the lung parameters of GGT, C3 and hs-CRP were down-regulated and the hepatic parameters of TC, TG, ALT and AST, HDLC, LDL-C and VLDL-C were improved, the serum levels of CK, Cr and Amy were decreased, and the levels of inflammatory factors such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-10 were also reduced, the activity of antioxidant enzymes SOD and CAT enhanced, and the content of MDA was reduced. In addition, histopathology of the lung and liver confirmed the beneficial effects of SPLE on MODS mice, indicating that SPLE played a role in protecting the organ function of MODS mice. In addition, SPLE was characterized as a sulfated β-glucan linked by β-type glycosidic bonds. These conclusions indicated that SPLE had effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and could be used as a functional food and medicine to prevent MODS.An ultrasound responsive erythrocyte membrane-derived hybrid nanovesicle drug delivery system (DOX/HMME@FA-NL) is constructed by the membrane fusion functionalization strategy for controlled drug release and enhanced tumor therapy. The reliability and effectiveness of the membrane fusion strategy are confirmed through characterization of the particle size and zeta potential, Förster energy resonance transfer and fluorescence co-localization analyses. The DOX/HMME@FA-NL could be triggered for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation under ultrasound stimulation. And the unsaturated phospholipids in DOX/HMME@FA-NL can be oxidized by ROS, leading to the destruction of the structure of the hybrid membrane to achieve the controlled release of drugs, thereby enhancing their tumor cell killing effect. Besides, the linkage of the folate targeting group also enhances the tumor targeting ability of DOX/HMME@FA-NL. H22 tumor-bearing mice were intravenously injected with DOX/HMME@FA-NL and treated with ultrasound, they achieved better than expected tumor sonodynamic response treatment effects.Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as a peroxidase mimic have been integrated with glucose oxidase (GOx) to achieve one-step glucose detection. However, limited by the loading amount of GOx, the performances of the developed glucose sensing assays still remain to be further improved to meet sensing requirements in diverse biological samples. Herein, with Fe3+ as the metal ion and 2-amino-benzenedicarboxylic acid as a ligand, a fluorescent Fe-based organic framework (NH2-MIL-101) with peroxidase-like activity was synthesized. Due to the large specific surface area (791.75 m2 g-1), 68 μg mg-1 GOx could be immobilized through the amidation coupling reaction, and the product was designated GOx@NH2-MIL-101. With OPD as the substrate, Gox@NH2-MIL-101 achieved highly efficient biomimetic cascade catalysis for one-step glucose detection through an inner filter effect upon reacting with glucose, GOx@NH2-MIL-101 catalytically oxidized glucose using dissolved O2, and the produced H2O2 concurrently oxidized o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to oxidized OPD (oxOPD), accompanied by the fluorescence of GOx@NH2-MIL-101 at 456 nm being quenched and that of oxOPD at 565 nm being enhanced. With the fluorescent ratio F565/F456 used as a readout signal, a wide linear range of 0.1-600 μM was obtained, and the detection limit was 0.0428 μM. Based on the excellent selectivity and high stability of GOx@NH2-MIL-101, the developed assay was successfully applied to glucose detection in human serum and saliva, presenting potential applications in diverse biological samples and even medical diagnosis.Zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) have attracted significant attention owing to their high safety, high energy density, and low cost. ZIBs have been studied as a potential energy device for portable and flexible electronics. Here, a highly flexible free-standing Zn anode is fabricated using a simple spin-coating technique, and its application in ZIBs is demonstrated. The free-standing Zn anode precursor is formed by mixing Zn particles with carbon nanotubes and poly(vinylidene fluoride)-co-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP). The hexafluoropropylene group in PVDF-HFP improves the mechanical properties of the free-standing Zn anode, whereas the carbon nanotubes created percolation conduction in the composite electrode, leading to an increased electrical conductivity of the anode. Owing to the excellent electrical conductivity and high specific surface area of the free-standing Zn anode, ZIBs with high capacity, rate performance, and mechanical flexibility are achieved. The volumetric energy density of the ZIBs reaches 8.22 mW h cm-3 with a battery thickness of 0.4 mm. This work demonstrates that free-standing Zn anodes are promising anodes for flexible ZIBs.The internal circadian clock in mammals drives whole-body biological activity rhythms. The clock reflects changes in external signals by controlling enzyme functions and the release of hormones involved in metabolic processes. Thus, misalignments between the circadian clock and an individual's daily schedule are recognized to be related to various metabolic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes. read more Although evidence has shown the existence of a complex relationship between circadian clock regulation and daily food intake, the regulatory effects of phytochemicals on the circadian clock remain unclarified. To better elucidate these relationships/effects, the circadian system components in mammals, circadian misalignment-related metabolic diseases, circadian rhythm-adjusting phytochemicals (including the heterocycles, acids, flavonoids and others) and the potential mechanisms (including the regulation of clock genes/proteins, metabolites of gut microbiota and secondary metabolites) are reviewed here. The bioactive components of functional foods discussed in this review could be considered potentially effective factors for the prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders related to circadian misalignment.
