Mycelial morphogenesis and the production of fungal secretory proteins are still largely unknown. A mutant strain of Aspergillus carbonarius UV-10046 produced abundant polygalacturonase (PG) along with partially saturated canthaxanthin (PSC) at low pH conditions. In the present study, the relationship between PG secretion and PSC biosynthesis was studied using carotenogenic inhibitors and SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. Also the correlation between morphogenesis and PG secretion was investigated by analysing through microscopic studies. From the results, it was observed that secretion of PG was positively influenced by the PSC biosynthesis. The results also showed that the mutant with hairy mycelial structure resulted in higher PG activity when compared to the wild type that lacks hyper branching. From the results, it was confirmed that a mutation might have occurred in the isoprenoid pathway that has helped mutant for survival at acidic conditions. Further, an alteration in the morphogenesis and hyper branching development caused over secretion of PG enzyme in the mutant.BACKGROUND Colonoscopies are considered to be the primary screening test and gold standard test for colorectal cancer. Position changes during colonoscope withdrawal are believed to be associated with an increased adenoma detection rate (ADR) and polyp detection rate (PDR). However, previous results conflicted, and this study aimed to elucidate the effectiveness of dynamic position changes during colonoscope withdrawal. METHODS The relevant publications were identified by searching the medical databases. The primary outcomes were the ADR and PDR, which were pooled and analyzed. ITF2357 HDAC inhibitor The secondary outcome was the withdrawal time. The studies that supplied the ADR and PDR for different segments of the colon were separated into subgroup analyses. RESULTS Five randomized controlled trials were eligible for analysis. The total ADR was higher with dynamic position changes than with a static position (odds ratio, [OR] 1.34; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.13-1.59; p less then 0.001), with low evidence of between-study heterogeneity (I2 = 0%). Although the total PDR was slightly higher with dynamic position changes than with a static position (OR 1.23; 95% CI 0.88-1.73), there difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.22). The withdrawal time was only increased by 0.47 min (95% CI - 0.11 to 1.06) with dynamic position changes, without statistical significance (p = 0.11). The subgroup analysis showed that the ADR and PDR for the transverse colon were higher with dynamic position changes, with pooled estimates of ADR (OR 1.72; 95% CI 1.02-2.88; p = 0.04) and PDR (OR 1.79; 95% CI 1.08-2.96; p = 0.02). CONCLUSION Dynamic position changes during colonoscope withdrawal increased the total ADR; however, no obvious increase was found in the total PDR. The withdrawal time was not significantly prolonged with dynamic position changes. Subgroup analysis showed that the ADR and PDR in the transverse colon were obviously improved with dynamic position changes. The potential of indigenously isolated bacteria from the Estância Velha stream to reduce Cr(VI) was evaluated and also the chromium contamination over the past ten years was verified in one of the most important industrial centers of Brazil, the "Brazilian Capital of Tanneries," Estância Velha municipality in the Rio Grande do Sul State, South Brazil. Samples were collected from the Estância Velha stream at the source (P1), as well as at upstream (P2) and downstream (P3) of the most demographically area. The bacterial strains reduced between 52.5 and 61.6% of 250 mg L-1 Cr(VI) in 48 h. The genus Acinetobacter was the most abundant and could efficiently reduce 500 mg L-1 of Cr(VI); for example, P2.8 and P2.9 strains of Acinetobacter ursingii reduced 21.3 and 24.5% of 500 mg L-1 of Cr(VI), respectively, after 48 h. Moreover, an analysis of Cr levels in the stream sediment reported up to 3594 mg. L-1 of total Cr and up to 138 mg. L-1 of Cr(VI) in 2009. Acinetobacter strains were identified as the most abundant and efficient in reducing Cr(VI), makes them an ideal candidate for cleaning environments contaminated with tannery effluents, an approach that is more cost-effective than the traditional methods.Migrating cells choose their preferential direction of motion in response to different signals and stimuli sensed by spanning their external environment. However, the presence of dense fibrous regions, lack of proper substrate, and cell overcrowding may hamper cells from moving in certain directions or even from sensing beyond regions that practically act like physical barriers. We extend the non-local kinetic model proposed by Loy and Preziosi (J Math Biol, 80, 373-421, 2020) to include situations in which the sensing radius is not constant, but depends on position, sensing direction and time as the behaviour of the cell might be determined on the basis of information collected before reaching physically limiting configurations. We analyse how the actual possible sensing of the environment influences the dynamics by recovering the appropriate macroscopic limits and by integrating numerically the kinetic transport equation. This short note aims to report in detail a preliminary assessment of the concentrations of Cd, Hg and Pb in tissues of blue crabs Callinectes danae collected from the Cananéia-Iguape-Peruíbe estuarine complex (CIP), in the South of São Paulo State coast, Brazil. In October 2014, blue crabs were collected from CIP. Tissues were removed by dissection and metal determination was performed by GF-AAS and CV-AAS. According to statistical analysis, Pb and Cd concentrations in gills were significantly higher than those found in muscles and hepatopancreas, respectively. There were no significant differences in Hg concentrations between samples. Cd, Hg and Pb concentrations in gills and hepatopancreas were lower than those reported in a previous study performed at CIP. However, Cd concentration in hepatopancreas was higher than the Brazilian limit for consumption and new efforts to monitor Cd concentrations in C. danae tissues must be performed.
