In conclusion, our study establishes that the LXR-IDOL-LDLR axis is active in the intestine and is part of the molecular circuitry that maintains cholesterol homeostasis in enterocytes.
Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of internal male pseudohermaphroditism characterized by the presence of rudimentary Müllerian structures in a virilized male often presenting as undescended testes. Thus, each patient diagnosed with undescended testes should promptly be investigated for PMDS because the early diagnosis has direct effects on outcome and prognosis.
A 26-year-old-male complained of long-standing abdominal pain two years ago and was diagnosed having bilateral undescended testes in the pelvic region. He underwent the orchidopexy about one year ago but, after 5 months of orchidopexy, he first complained of discomfort in the left and then right inguinal region due to an incisional hernia that presumed to have the ovotesticular disorder of sexual development. On the pelvic MRI exam, the Müllerian duct structures were observed and he was diagnosed as having PMDS.
In this case the patient had bilateral cryptorchidism with testes fixed in the para iliac region with respect to the uterus, indicating the female type of PMDS which is a rare type of PMDS. The case is proven genetically and Müllerian duct remnants have been resected to avoid malignant transformation.

A Pancreatic pseudocyst is usually a complication of pancreatitis but may follow abdominal trauma in children. Giant pseudocysts are rare and usually complicate chronic pancreatitis.
To report 3 cases of giant pseudocysts of the pancreas managed in our Centre within a three-month-period.
Two female patients aged 22 years and 65 years respectively, and an 11-year-old boy presented with giant pancreatic pseudocysts (>10 cm in diameter each) to our unit and were successfully managed. They all underwent exploratory laparotomy and cysto-gastrostomy with good outcome.

The aim of the study is to quantify the susceptibility in deep grey nuclei that are affected by pathological processes related to iron accumulation in patients with Parkinson's disease and primary atypical parkinsonisms such as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy and Cortico-Basal Degeneration, in order to assist the differential diagnosis among parkinsonian syndromes.
We enrolled 49 patients with Parkinson's disease and 26 patients with primary atypical parkinsonisms. Automatic segmentation of putamen, globus pallidus, caudate nucleus and thalamus and manual segmentation of red nuclei and substantia nigra were performed, and region of interest-based Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping analysis were performed. Statistical comparisons of the mean susceptibility values in the segmented brain regions were performed among primary atypical parkinsonisms and Parkinson's disease.
Susceptibility values in red nuclei were increased in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy patients compared to parkintool in the differential diagnosis between parkinsonian syndromes.
Computed Tomography is an essential diagnostic tool in the management of COVID-19. Considering the large amount of examinations in high case-load scenarios, an automated tool could facilitate and save critical time in the diagnosis and risk stratification of the disease.
A novel deep learning derived machine learning (ML) classifier was developed using a simplified programming approach and an open source dataset consisting of 6868 chest CT images from 418 patients which was split into training and validation subsets. SMIFH2 The diagnostic performance was then evaluated and compared to experienced radiologists on an independent testing dataset. Diagnostic performance metrics were calculated using Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) analysis. Operating points with high positive (>10) and low negative (<0.01) likelihood ratios to stratify the risk of COVID-19 being present were identified and validated.
The model achieved an overall accuracy of 0.956 (AUC) on an independent testing dataset of 90 patients. Both rule-in and rule out thresholds were identified and tested. At the rule-in operating point, sensitivity and specificity were 84.4 % and 93.3 % and did not differ from both radiologists (p > 0.05). At the rule-out threshold, sensitivity (100 %) and specificity (60 %) differed significantly from the radiologists (p < 0.05). Likelihood ratios and a Fagan nomogram provide prevalence independent test performance estimates.
