In the solution process of fabricating the organic solar cell, securement of solubility has a great effect on the performance of the device, because morphology and orientation of a photo-active layer which significantly affect charge transport in the device. Since tetrahydrofuran (THF) Soxhlet solvents have high vapor pressure and appropriate solubility parameters, THF induced the best solubility of P-IDI-SVS materials for organic solvents. And through additive optimization, the performance of the device based on P-IDI-SVS from THF-Soxhlet extraction was enhanced. This is expected to be a meaningful study because the effect on solubility of Soxhlet solvent suggests factors to be considered in the solution process in organic solar cell research. In addition, surface modified bulk heterojunction was observed using atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence, time-correlated single photon counting and Raman spectroscopy analysis.Angiogenesis is the growth of new capillaries from the preexisting blood vessels. Glioblastoma (GBM) tumors are highly vascularized tumors, and glioma growth depends on the formation of new blood vessels. Angiogenesis is a complex process involving proliferation, migration, and differentiation of vascular endothelial cells (ECs) under the stimulation of specific signals. It is controlled by the balance between its promoting and inhibiting factors. Various angiogenic factors and genes have been identified that stimulate glioma angiogenesis. Therefore, attention has been directed to anti-angiogenesis therapy in which glioma proliferation is inhibited by inhibiting the formation of new tumor vessels using angiogenesis inhibitory factors and drugs. Here, in this review, we highlight and summarize the various molecular mediators that regulate GBM angiogenesis with focus on recent clinical research on the potential of exploiting angiogenic pathways as a strategy in the treatment of GBM patients.PURPOSE In Romania, one of the highest rates for colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality in Europe was estimated based on data available in 2008. Ever since, consistent data are missing. In this article, we tried to estimate the general burden of CRC in our country. METHODS We collected data from all hospitalized recorded cases according to the ICD-10 revision (codes C18-C20), as both primary and secondary diagnoses, as reported by all the hospitals to the DRG National System, between 2016 and 2018. RESULTS There were 50,890 persons hospitalized with CRC. this website The prevalence of hospitalized colorectal cancer was 108.24/100,000 inhabitants in 2016, 113.09/100,000 inhabitants in 2017, and 116.83/100,000 inhabitants in 2018. Distal localization prevailed. We registered 34.13/100,000 deaths by CRC within the mentioned period of time, almost twofold higher than average European range. There are significant geographical differences regarding CRC prevalence and mortality, with higher rates in the Northern and Central Regions, and a very low prevalence and mortality in Bucharest and Southern provinces. CONCLUSION We note a high colorectal mortality rate in Romania, especially in the Northern and Central Regions, nearly double versus European ranges.PURPOSE Definitive chemoradiotherapy represents a standard of care treatment for localized anal cancer. National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend radiotherapy (RT) doses of ≥ 45 Gy and escalation to 50.4-59 Gy for advanced disease. Per RTOG 0529, 50.4 Gy was prescribed for early-stage disease (cT1-2N0), and 54 Gy for locally advanced cancers (cT3-T4 and/or node positive). We assessed patterns of care and overall survival (OS) with respect to the RT dose. METHODS The National Cancer Database identified patients with non-metastatic anal squamous cell carcinoma from 2004 to 2015 treated with chemoradiotherapy. Patients were stratified by RT dose 40- 54 Gy was associated with improved OS.The most studied medical condition related with dental erosions is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The aim of this study was to assess other predictors of dental erosions besides GERD in outpatients referred for upper digestive endoscopy. In a cross-sectional study, we prospectively evaluated 235 patients who underwent upper digestive endoscopy. Patients were interviewed and examined by a trained dentist before the endoscopies, addressing dental health as well as clinical information and food intake. Dental erosion was classified using Basic Erosive Wear Examination score. Potential predictors for dental erosions were gender, age, chronic use of antidepressants and proton pump inhibitors (PPI), diabetes mellitus, body mass index, heartburn and acid regurgitation scores, chocolate intake, reflux esophagitis and hiatal hernia. Overall prevalence of dental erosions was 23.4%. The most parsimonious Poisson regression model for dental erosions considered age, chocolate intake and acid regurgitation as predictors. Dental erosions were associated with acid regurgitation in patients younger than 50 years [adjusted prevalence ratio (PR) = 1.8 (95% CI 1.1-2.9)] and with chocolate intake in patients older than 50 years [PR = 2.1 (95% CI 1.2-3.9]. The surfaces most eroded were palatine/lingual (n = 25) and occlusal (n = 25), followed by vestibular (n = 5). In outpatients evaluated with upper digestive endoscopy, the variables associated with dental erosions were age younger than 50 years, acid regurgitation and chocolate intake. Referral for dental evaluation should be considered for young patients with GERD and frequent acid regurgitation.
