[Effectiveness of smoking cessation packages involving roll-your-own cigarette smokers inside Galicia.]
Tumor target coverage and normal organ dosimetry were not compromised with its usage. Its routine application should be considered in definitive radiotherapy for head and neck cancers.
Premature infants hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit are routinely exposed to many painful procedures. Pain experienced during ARV-771 mouse may lead to negative outcomes, especially in preterm neonates, hence pain in infants should be reduced. Kangaroo care and oral sucrose are some of the methods that can help reduce pain.

This study aimed to compare the effects of kangaroo care and oral sucrose on pain relief in preterm infants during heel lancing.

Our study involved 64 infants. The infants were randomly divided into two groups using a randomized block design of drawing out slips from a thick, non-transparent envelope. There were 64 slips in this envelope (32 for kangaroo care and 32 for oral sucrose). Kangaroo care was given to the preterm infants in the first group and oral sucrose to those in the second group. In both groups, heart rate and oxygen saturation were measured and pain score was evaluated by two observers using the Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) before, during, and 2minutes after blood sampling by heel lancing.

There was a statistically significant difference between the groups in favor of the kangaroo group in terms of change in the PIPP values after heel lancing. Kangaroo care is more effective than oral sucrose in pain relief during heel lancing in preterm infants.

In addition to many benefits it offers to infants, kangaroo care can be used to reduce pain during painful procedures in premature infants.

Selective internal radiotherapy (SIRT) with yttrium-90 (Y-90)-labeled resin microspheres may have a role in consolidating the response to chemotherapy in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer unamenable to resection after assessment of the best response to first-line chemotherapy.

This was a retrospective analysis of outcomes in patients who had received SIRT as consolidation therapy after one or more lines of chemotherapy. Eligible patients were 18 years or older, had confirmed colorectal liver metastases, and had disease unsuitable for surgical resection or local ablation with curative intent. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival.

Sixty-eight patients with colorectal liver metastases were treated with at least one SIRT procedure after receiving one or more lines of chemotherapy. Median progression-free survival was significantly longer in patients who received SIRT after prior first-line chemotherapy compared to those who received SIRT after two or more lines of chemotherapy (9 vs. #link# 3 months, respectively; hazard ratio= 0.07; 95% confidence interval, 0.02854‒0.2039; P< .001), and in patients with liver-only disease compared to those who had extrahepatic metastases (6.4 vs. 4.1 months, respectively; hazard ratio= 0.57; 95% confidence interval, 0.34-0.95; P= .0318). There were no grade 3 or higher adverse events.

SIRT represents a valid option for the treatment of colorectal liver metastases. Earlier use of SIRT may provide a greater survival benefit compared to that afforded by the procedure when used in salvage settings.

Hope, rather, is a much broader, creative process. This reflective piece underscores this through personal experience I had with my wife and her mom and dad, all of who have passed away.
Patients with sickle cell trait (SCT) are commonly considered as asymptomatic carriers. However, some clinical manifestations may occur.

Here we present a retrospective descriptive study about SCT subjects with at least one complication diagnosed in a sickle cell disease referral center, in Paris, between 2008 and 2019. We also performed a literature review on the complications of SCT subjects.

Six patients (between 19 and 65years old) were included. SCT was already known only for 4 of them at the time of the complication. Four patients presented with a splenic infarct after a stay in high altitude or a plane trip, one of them was associated with papillary necrosis; one patient had isolated papillary necrosis, and the last one had splenic sequestration. These complications happened for most of them after exposure to an unusual situation of hypoxia or deshydratation. Five out of 6 patients had a marked elevated C reactive protein.

SCT may cause acute ischemic complications in a context of prolonged hypoxia or dehydration. The most commonly reported are the splenic infarct and the renal papillary necrosis. A study of hemoglobin should be considered in these clinical situations in patients with compatible ethnic origin.

Fungal infection in central nervous system is a life-threatening complication which aggravates patients' prognosis. This article summarizes relevant aspects on the clinical characteristics of this pathology, mechanisms of fungus invasion, local immune response to Candida albicans and the impact of genetic defects on innate immune receptors that increase susceptibility to the acquisition of this form of mycosis.
Personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, is essential in a pandemic like COVID-19, which has required, on many occasions, the reuse of material due to its shortage. The aim of this review is to summarize available evidence on the reuse and extended use of filtering facepiece respirator.

Scoping review. Search through natural language in PUBMED and Centers, Agencies and Organizations for Disease Control. Limited to articles published between 2010-2020 in English and Spanish.

83 articles were located, 14 were selected, plus 5 recommendations. The topics included in this study are classified in 7 sections expiration, extended use and reuse of masks, handling techniques, sealing, physical-psychological effects and compliance, contamination and decontamination of respirators.

The reuse of masks is not recommended by official organizations or manufacturers, and is only accepted in extraordinary cases, such as pandemics. The studies are characterized by having small samples, using different models of respirators adjusting their recommendation to the model.
