Despite their low concentrations in many aquatic environments, evidence exists to suggest that herbicides do affect non-target organisms. Given that burrowing is a primary life-history trait in crayfish, herbicides could potentially have serious negative effects on these ecologically important freshwater macroinvertebrates. In this study, we exposed the red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii to terbuthylazine (a triazine) and metazachlor (a chloroacetanilide) at an environmental concentration of 2.0 μg/L for 28 days, and then observed their burrowing behaviour for two days. The metazachlor-exposed males excavated a greater number of burrows than the other tested groups, with comparable depths and volumes relative to individual specimen weight. The relative depth and volume of female burrows were identical in all groups. The natural habit of female crayfish of constructing deeper burrows than males was marginally significant in the control and META groups but was not significant for relative volume. The hypothesized adverse effects of chronic exposure to real environmental concentrations of herbicides were not documented in terms of either relative depth or volume. However, the increased number of burrows in metazachlor-exposed animals may mean that this invasive species will cause greater damage to embankments and river banks. The mechanisms behind these effects require closer study.Among various air pollutants, particulate matter (PM) is the most harmful and representative pollutant. At the same time, allergic rhinitis (AR) is getting more and more attention, so we explore the relationship between PM and the prevalence of AR among children. Then, PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar was used to search for relevant studies up to January 2020. Literature quality assessment was processed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) evaluation scale. Adjusted odds ratio (OR) with corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) was retrieved from individual studies and pooled to generate a summary effect via STATA software. Besides, we test the result stability by Egger's test and funnel plot, and using the trim-and-fill method to modify the possible asymmetric funnel graph. 21 studies were included in the meta-analysis. 9 articles reported about PM2.5 on childhood AR (1.09, 95%CI 1.01, 1.17, per 10 μg/m3 increase). 15 articles reported about PM10 on childhood AR (1.06, 95%CI 1.02,1.11, per 10 μg/m3 increase), PM2.5 exposure has a bigger effect on children AR than PM10. In addition, a series of subgroup analysis was performed, and we found that PM2.5 and PM10 have different performances in different subgroups. In addition to this, we analyzed the sources of heterogeneity of the study. Apart from the results we got all have good stability without publication bias. Therefore, it can be concluded that exposure to PM may increase the prevalence of AR among children.There has been great interest in how previously acquired knowledge interacts with newly learned knowledge and how prior knowledge facilitates semantic and "schema" learning. In the present study, we recruited 120 participants for a two-day spatial navigation experiment, wherein participants on Day 2 navigated virtual routes that were learned from Day 1 while also learning new routes. Critically, half of the new mazes overlapped with the old mazes, while the other half did not, enabling us to examine interference and facilitation in the context of spatial episodic learning. Overall, we found that navigation performance in new mazes that overlapped with previously-learned routes was significantly worse than the new non-overlapping mazes, suggesting proactive interference. Interestingly, we found memory facilitation for new routes in familiar environments in locations where there was no direct overlap with the previously-learned routes. Cognitive map accuracy positively correlated with proactive interference. Moreover, participants with high self-report spatial ability and/or a preference for place-based learning experienced more proactive interference. Taken together, our results show that 1) both memory interference and facilitation can co-occur as a function of prior learning, 2) proactive interference within a route varied as a function of the degree of overlap with old knowledge, and 3) individual differences in spatial ability and strategy can modulate proactive interference.Anaphylaxis is a severe acute multisystem syndrome involving massive mediator release from mast cells and basophils.
