Estimating group variations in system types using small amounts analysis.
Associations between certain personality traits and individual differences in diurnal preferences, referred to as morningness-eveningness, are well established from cross-sectional studies. However, it is unclear whether personality affects diurnal preference, diurnal preference affects personality, or some third factor influences both. The current study assessed the Big Five personality traits and morningness-eveningness in a one-year, two-wave longitudinal design, in a sample of 169 Polish high school students (59% females), aged 16-17 years (M = 16.80, SD = 0.39) during the first wave of measurement. During the second wave the participants were respectively 1 year older. Cross lagged panel analyses were run to determine wave 1 predictors of wave 2 variables. Cross-sectional analyses replicated the association between morningness and conscientiousness that has been reliably found in previous studies, but the cross-lagged paths between these variables were nonsignificant. These two traits appear to be intrinsically linked to one another by adolescence, possibly as a consequence of genetic influences that shape temperament earlier in childhood. In contrast, emotional stability and morningness were not significantly correlated in wave 1 cross-sectional data, but a significant relationship was found in the cross-lagged panel analysis. Wave 1 emotional stability predicted wave 2 morningness, although wave 1 morningness did not predict personality. We tentatively suggest that there may be a causal effect of personality on diurnal preference, associated with avoidance strategies for coping with academic stress as the high school years approach their end. More neurotic individuals may cope with their aversion to classes by distracting themselves with evening pursuits, such as use of the internet. Further work might examine in more depth how contextual stressors interact with personality to affect daily activities at different times of the day.
To assess characteristics of exposures to contaminated poppy and identify trends in exposure and poppy-related deaths.

Cross-sectional analysis of adverse events associated with exposure to poppy products (primarily poppy seeds) from the American Association of Poison Control Centers' National Poison Data System (NPDS), 2000-2018, supplemented with analysis of overdoses and deaths related to poppy from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition's Adverse Event Reporting System (CAERS) (2004-2018), and the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) (1968-2018).

There were 591 NPDS exposure cases involving poppy between 2000 and 2018 including 392 in persons aged 13+. selleck chemical Rates of intentional exposures in NPDS increased among the age 13+ group over the study period. Most intentional exposures occurred in males in their teens and twenties. NPDS included 18 overdoses and three deaths likely attributable to poppy, most involving poppy seed tea. CAERS and FAERS included five additional deaths likely attributable to opioids in poppy.

Including previously reported cases, there are now at least 19 U.S. deaths associated with poppy seeds in the literature. We recommend that practitioners working in opioid treatment and recovery be alert to use of poppy to treat pain and symptoms of withdrawal.

Seven groups, each consisting of 6 adult male gerbils, were subjected to a standard LD cycle (12 L12D) with lights on at 0800 h and off at 2000 h, constant conditions (total darkness, DD), prolonged nighttime exposure to light (PEL 18 L6D) with lights on at 0800 h and off at 0200 h, mimicking prolonged exposure to light pollution in peri-urban areas, exposure to auditory stress (TNS) of 80 dB, and conditions combining PEL&TNS. The body temperature circadian rhythm was recorded, and behavioral tests were performed at the end of experimental phases. The results revealed the existence, for the first time in Gerbilus tarabuli, of an endogenous circadian rhythm of body temperature with a period of 23.8 ± 0.04 h. Prolonged exposure to light at night (PEL) indn addition, these conditions were responsible for less activity (total number of entries in arms) than in the control and PEL conditions. These results indicate clearly that in the desert area, peri-urban light and noise pollutions disturb the circadian rhythm components and alter the behavior of Tarabul's gerbils inducing an anxious state.Job satisfaction of healthcare providers is important for their own health and also the quality of care provided to their patients. The aim of our study was to measure the chronotype patterns among healthcare providers and its association with their job satisfaction. Using stratified cluster random sampling, we recruited 210 healthcare providers working permanent morning or evening shifts for a cross-sectional study in Sari, Iran. By in-person interview, we collected data on demographic characteristics and assessed both chronotype, using the Horne-Östberg M-E Questionnaire, and job satisfaction, using the Danet's Job Satisfaction Questionnaire. We grouped job satisfaction scores into four ordinal categories and assessed correlations with study variables by ordinal multivariate logistic regression. The average age of the participants was 39.0 (SD 8.02) years. Most were younger than 45 years of age (74.27%), female (66.67%), married (62.24%), of high income (45.71%), and employed in permanent full-time healthcare work (56.67%). Overall, 63.4% of the participants had moderately high to high job satisfaction. Those who worked the morning shift who were moderate morning and high morning chronotypes, compared to those who were intermediate chronotype, had a statistically significant adjusted odd ratio (AOR), respectively, of 11.36 and 6.53 of higher job satisfaction. Likewise, those who worked the evening shift and were moderate evening and high evening chronotype, compared to intermediate chronotype, had a statistically higher AOR of job satisfaction, respectively, 3.44 and 32.63. We found the match between chronotype and work shift schedule to be linked with increased job satisfaction. If the findings are verified in other investigations, the relatively easy measure of chronotype should be considered to assign people to a work shift to improve job satisfaction of healthcare and perhaps other workers.
