A novel Gram-stain-positive, motile, aerobic, non-spore-forming and slender rod-shaped actinobacterium, designated strain CTD02-10-2T, was isolated from deep sea water of the Indian Ocean. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain CTD02-10-2T was grouped into a separated branch with Chryseoglobus frigidaquae JCM 14730T (98.4 % nucleotide sequence identity). The respiratory quinones were menaquinones with 11, 12, 13 and 14 isoprene units and anteiso-C15  0, iso-C16  0, anteiso-C15  1 A and anteiso-C17  0 were the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol and three unknown glycolipids. The genome of strain CTD02-10-2T was 2.59 Mb, with a DNA G+C content of 69.6 mol% and contained genes involved in the biosynthesis of alkylresorcinol, ansamycin, and carotenoids. In silico DNA-DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values for whole-genome sequence comparisons between strain CTD02-10-2T and C. frigidaquae JCM 14730T were clearly below the thresholds used for the delineation of a new species. Based on its morphological and chemotaxonomic characteristics, as well as genotypic data, strain CTD02-10-2T was classified as a novel species of the genus Chryseoglobus, for which the name Chryseoglobus indicus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CTD02-10-2T (=JCM 33842T=MCCC 1A16619T).Two bacterial strains designated as W3-2-3T and HKS04T were isolated from mineral water and a soil sample, respectively, in the Republic of Korea. The 16S rRNA genes of the two strains shared a sequence similarity of 93.5 %. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains W3-2-3T and HKS04T formed a distinct lineage within the genus Nocardioides of the family Nocardioidaceae (order Propionibacteriales). The closely related species of strain W3-2-3T were Nocardioides albidus (98.9 %), Nocardioides caeni (98.8 %), Nocardioides kongjuensis (98.6 %), Nocardioides aromaticivorans (98.5 %), Nocardioides nitrophenolicus (98.4 %), Nocardioides flava (98.2 %) and Nocardioides ginsengisoli (98.1 %). The closest species of strain HKS04T was Nocardioides halotolerans (98.7 %). The genome sizes of strains W3-2-3T and HKS04T were 4741198 and 5 120341 bp, respectively. The genomic DNA G+C contents of strains W3-2-3T and HKS04T were 73.3 and 72.1 mol%, respectively. The main fatty acids of strain W3-2-3T were C171ω6c and iso-C160 and those of strain HKS04T were iso-C160 and iso-C160 H. The main polar lipids of both strains were diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol and the predominant respiratory quinone was MK-8(H4), supporting the affiliation of these strains with the genus Nocardioides. Based on the results of biochemical, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses, two novel species, Nocardioides convexus W3-2-3T (KACC 21211T=LMG 31251T) and Nocardioides anomalus HKS04T (KACC 18879T=LMG 31249T), are proposed.Nutrition during the periconceptional period influences postnatal cardiovascular health. We determined whether in vitro embryo culture and transfer, which are manipulations of the nutritional environment during the periconceptional period, dysregulate postnatal blood pressure and blood pressure regulatory mechanisms. Embryos were either transferred to an intermediate recipient ewe (ET) or cultured in vitro in the absence (IVC) or presence of human serum (IVCHS) and a methyl donor (IVCHS+M) for 6 days. Basal blood pressure was recorded at 19-20 weeks after birth. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were measured before and after varying doses of phenylephrine (PE). mRNA expression of signaling molecules involved in blood pressure regulation was measured in the renal artery. Basal MAP did not differ between groups. Baroreflex sensitivity, set point, and upper plateau were also maintained in all groups after PE stimulation. Vafidemstat in vivo Adrenergic receptors alpha-1A (αAR1A), alpha-1B (αAR1B), and angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R) mRNA expression were not different from controls in the renal artery. These results suggest there is no programmed effect of ET or IVC on basal blood pressure or the baroreflex control mechanisms in adolescence, but future studies are required to determine the impact of ET and IVC on these mechanisms later in the life course when developmental programming effects may be unmasked by age.Anthracnose fruit rot of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.), caused by Colletotrichum spp., has been mainly associated with the C. acutatum species complex and C. gloeosporioides species complex (Farr and Rossman 2020). In June 2010, isolates of the C. acutatum species complex were isolated together with the C. gloeosporioides species complex from anthracnose lesions on litchi fruits (cv. Nuomici) obtained from a litchi orchard in Shenzhen (N 22.36°, E 113.58°), China. The symptoms typically appeared as brown lesions up to 25 mm in diameter, causing total fruit rot and sometimes fruit cracking. Based on the number of isolates we collected, the C. acutatum species complex appears less frequently on infected fruit compared to the C. gloeosporioides species complex. Since only the C. gloeosporioides species complex has been reported in China (Qi 2000; Ann et al. 2004), we focused on the C. acutatum species complex in this study. Pure cultures of fungal isolates were obtained by single-spore isolation. The isolate Gal suspensions (106 conidia/ml), with sterile water as blank controls, and each treatment inoculated at least 15 fruits. Inoculated fruits were covered by an adhesive-bonded fabric bag until the trial ended. After 31 days, typical symptoms were observed, while control fruits remained asymptomatic. The fungus was re-isolated from diseased fruits and identified as C. fioriniae according to the methods described above. To our knowledge, this is the first report of anthracnose fruit rot on litchi caused by C. fioriniae, one species of the C. acutatum species complex, in China. For the difficulty in distinguishing anthracnose caused by C. fioriniae from the C. gloeosporioides species complex just by the symptoms, and mixed infection usually occurring in the field, further investigations are required to reliably assess the potential threat posed by C. fioriniae for litchi production in China.
