women in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic. In 2019, they constituted 59% of new infections; thus, they remain a key population for control. Public health interventions to prevent acquisition of HIV in this high-risk population are urgently needed. Tenofovir-based pre-exposure prophylaxis (TFV-PrEP) has been shown to reduce HIV infections in other key populations. However, comprehensive evidence regarding TFV-PrEP effectiveness in women living in SSA has not been determined. Therefore, we undertook a systematic review to determine the effectiveness of tenofovir-1% (TFV-1%) vaginal gel, oral tenofovir (TFV) and tenofovir-emtricitabine (TDF-FTC) pre-exposure prophylaxis for primary acquisition of HIV in at-risk women living in SSA.

We here report the diagnostic and therapeutic features of two patients with uterine arteriovenous malformations complicating post-abortion in the Maternity Ward of the University Hospital of Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe. Patients had metrorrhagias after abortion with curettage. Arteriovenous malformation was suspected based on ultrasound combined with Doppler. Arteriography confirmed the diagnosis and allowed, in the same time, for conservative treatment by arterial embolization. No complication was reported. The lack of knowledge about uterine arteriovenous malformations can lead to deleterious consequences ranging from haemostatic hysterectomy due to cataclysmic hemorrhage to death.

the mean age of the study participants was 41.6±9.3years. Majority 294 (78.4%) were females, 141 (37.6%) lived in the rural area, 50 (13.3%) respondents did not have toilets in their homes. malignant arterial hypertension (MAH) is a nosologic disorder which has not been described in Nephrology. The purpose of this study was to describe the profile of patients with MAH in the Division of Nephrology and to identify prognostic factors.

we conducted a retrospective, descriptive and analytical study from January 2013 to December 2018 in the Unit of Nephrology of the University Hospital Center in Treichville. The diagnosis of MAH was retained in patients with diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 130 mmHg, Keith Wegener grade III/IV hypertensive retinopathy, one or multiple visceral, cardiac and/or brain and/or renal diseases.
