Mindfulness-based programs have been shown to be effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms, and enhancing well-being. However, it remains unclear whether longer formal mindfulness practices are necessary to obtain such results. We therefore aimed to assess the effectiveness of a program (FOVEA, 8weeks, 2h/week) which was only based on brief and informal practices.

Using a switching replication design, participants (N=139) were assigned to a FOVEA or a wait-list group, and completed the following self-report questionnaires online at three time points perceived stress, anxiety, depression, satisfaction with life (dependent variables), and mindfulness (mediating variable). They also completed a daily practice diary.

Relative to the wait-list group, FOVEA participants showed significantly reduced perceived stress, anxiety, and depression, and increased satisfaction with life. These changes were completely mediated by increased mindfulness, and were maintained 2.5months after the end of the program. The effect sizes were moderate to large.

These results underline the potential benefits of a mindfulness informal practices program for the general population. This type of program could constitute a first step towards more formal practices once the motivation to practice has been enhanced by the perceived benefits of brief practices.

MICU1 induces both glycolysis and chemoresistance and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. However, there are currently no available interventions to normalize aberrant MICU1 expression. Here, we demonstrate that microRNA-195-5p (miR-195) directly targets the 3' UTR of the MICU1 mRNA and represses MICU1 expression. Additionally, miR-195 is under-expressed in ovarian cancer cell lines, and restoring miR-195 expression reestablishes native MICU1 levels and the associated phenotypes. Stable expression of miR-195 in a human xenograft model of ovarian cancer significantly reduces tumor growth, increases tumor doubling times, and enhances overall survival. DNA Damage inhibitor In conclusion, miR-195 controls MICU1 levels in ovarian cancer and could be exploited to normalize aberrant MICU1 expression, thus reversing both glycolysis and chemoresistance and consequently improving patient outcomes.Coffin-Siris syndrome (CSS; OMIM #135900) is a rare, multisystem syndrome caused by pathogenic variants in genes encoding the BRG-1 associated factors complex (BAF). Individuals with CSS often present with feeding difficulties and failure to thrive during infancy, in addition to a number of variable congenital anomalies. Nutritional interventions are used to support growth in this population, and growth hormone therapy has been reported in a limited number of cases. The purpose of this study was to construct CSS-specific growth charts to better characterize the growth in this population. Anthropometric data were collected from 99 individuals enrolled in the CSS/BAF pathway international registry via a retrospective chart review. All measurements obtained after the first exposure to growth hormone therapy were excluded from this analysis. Sex-specific centiles (5th, 50th, and 95th) were estimated for height, weight, and head circumference from birth to age 10. Cubic smoothing splines were then fit to the centile estimates and superimposed on normative male and female growth curves for comparison. The CSS patients in this cohort exhibited normal growth parameters at birth. By age 10, the weight and head circumference of the CSS cohort began to approach normal parameters. Stature, however, remained shortened at 10 years of age.
Treatment of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears (RCT) has shown limited clinical success and a variety of subsequent complications. Superior capsule reconstruction (SCR) has been proved to reestablish superior stability but does not restore the dynamic force or shoulder kinematics. There are numerous reports of the short-term failure of SCR grafts at the glenoid side, which relate to the non-biological healing of grafts. To restore both dynamic and static stability and to provide biologic augmentation, an integrated procedure for massive irreparable RCT using an Achilles tendon-bone allograft (ATBA) was developed.

This was a retrospect study completed between October 2019 and April 2020. A 71-year-old woman with massive and irreparable rotator cuff tears was enrolled in our study. The ATBA was folded into a double-layer structure. The superior layer (proximal portion) served as a bridge patch to dynamic the glenohumeral joint, while the inferior layer (distal portion) served as the superior capsule tos technique could provide a preferable treatment option by restoring shoulder kinematics and augmentating biological healing for patients with massive irreparable RCT.Large size of capacitors is the main hurdle in miniaturization of current electronic devices. Herein, a scalable solution-based layer-by-layer engineering of metallic and high-κ dielectric nanosheets into multilayer nanosheet capacitors (MNCs) with overall thickness of ≈20 nm is presented. The MNCs are built through neat tiling of 2D metallic Ru0.95 O20.2- and high-κ dielectric Ca2 NaNb4 O13- nanosheets via the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) approach at room temperature which is verified by cross-sectional high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The resultant MNCs demonstrate a high capacitance of 40-52 µF cm-2 and low leakage currents down to 10-5 -10-6 A cm-2 . Such MNCs also possess complimentary in situ robust dielectric properties under high-temperature measurements up to 250 °C. Based on capacitance normalized by the thickness, the developed MNC outperforms state-of-the-art multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC, ≈22 µF cm-2 /5 × 104 nm) present in the market. The strategy is effective due to the advantages of facile, economical, and ambient temperature solution assembly.
