Zinc rich epoxy (ZRE) coatings can provide sacrificial anode protection for metal substrate. Electrically conductive fillers can be added into ZRE coatings to create electroconductive network and improve the utilization of zinc particles. Inspired by the structure of reinforced concrete, in this work, carbon fibers with a length of 2 mm, 5 mm, and 10 mm were used as electrically conductive fillers to drive more zinc particle into electrically conductive paths and to provide coatings with better mechanical properties. Without agglomeration, ZRE-10 can achieve an efficient protection for copper substrate up to 50 days in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, much longer than that of ZRE coating. Moreover, the fraction of water absorbed by ZRE-10 is 14%, which for ZRE is 20%, and the adhesion strength of ZRE-10 increased by 65% compared with that of ZRE. All tests in this work can prove a remarkably enhanced anticorrosion performance and mechanical properties of ZRE coatings achieved by addition of longer carbon fibers. In this paper we investigated the partitioning of polymer chains between bulk solvent and porous stationary phase under conditions appropriate for the chromatography under critical conditions (LCCC) close to the critical adsorption point (CAP). We addressed the concentration effect and the thermodynamic effect of pore-size dispersity (PSD) and their impacts on chromatography, i.e., the topics which surprisingly escaped from the interest of scientists in spite that the hydrodynamic effect of PSD has been a subject of numerous studies. The phase equilibria in narrow pores (as compared with the size of polymer coil) with attractive pores are complex and the enthalpy-to-entropy interplay is very intricate. The chains are attracted into pores and the partition coefficients are larger than 1, which corresponds to the interaction chromatography (IC), but they are strongly confined and deformed. The entropy plays important role and the elution volumes of chains differing in molar mass correspond to the size-exclusion chromatography (SEC). The study thus reveals a new chromatography regime which could be easily overlooked without the awareness of its existence. The unexpected findings are important not only for chromatography, but for understanding the phase equilibria of polymers in porous systems in general. INTRODUCTION Every discipline has a dichotomous objective by which it recognizes whether its work has been successful (Vogd, 2011). For midwifery care, no objective has been set in this way so far. Apcin price This also has implications for measuring quality, because quality of care is only measurable if objectives have been identified. This paper aims to contribute to theory formation in midwifery science by analysing existing concepts and theories and preferences of women to midwifery care to answer the question of the dichotomous objective of midwifery. METHOD AND FINDINGS The method of theory synthesis (Walker and Avant, 2011) was used to analyse existing theories and concepts of midwifery care and literature-based preferences of women to midwifery care and synthesize them with regard to the objectives of midwifery care. The synthesis took place in the form of a means-end chain to extract the dichotomous target of midwifery care. In this way, the objectives of midwifery could be compared and linked from both the scientific and from women's perspective. The resulting means-end chain model of the process of midwifery describes the aims and objectives of midwifery from the point of view of women on three levels. DISCUSSION The hierarchical model of the process of midwifery presented here is a first attempt to illustrate the aims and objectives of midwifery practice in a means-end chain model in order to facilitate discussion on the topic and to make the quality of midwifery care measurable. Measurement is a first step towards improving quality of midwifery care and thereby improving women's reproductive capabilities. OBJECTIVES To explore and describe what student midwives, enrolled in one Western Australian (WA) university, had witnessed, learned and experienced regarding the concept of being 'with woman'. DESIGN A qualitative descriptive design was chosen. SETTING A university in Perth, Western Australia. PARTICIPANTS Nineteen student midwives from an undergraduate and a post graduate midwifery course. METHODS Data were collected from audio-recorded interviews. Thematic analysis of interview transcripts was used to identify commonalities of perceptions and experiences of being 'with woman' for students. Data saturation guided when recruitment ceased and final sample size was achieved. FINDINGS Student interviews revealed that when considering the concept of being 'with woman' students were able to give descriptors of what they interpreted the meaning of being 'with woman' to be. They also described factors that impacted their learning of how to be 'with woman'. Included in their descriptors were that being 'with woman' enables informed choice, it creates a connection, it means the woman is at the centre of care and that it can occur in all contexts. The factors that impacted their learning of how to be 'with woman' were the importance of positive midwife role models, that providing continuity of care models accelerate learning, that the student role and workload can impact their perceived ability to be with woman and that they are aware it takes time to learn how to be 'with woman'. CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONS The art and skills of being 'with woman' are central to midwifery practice; students in this study were able to demonstrate understanding of the concept and also highlight factors that influence their learning of how to be 'with woman'. Findings can inform how the phenomenon of being 'with woman' can be intentionally introduced into midwifery programs, with particular emphasis on positive midwifery role models, realistic student workload and recognition of the value of the Continuity of Care Experience. We previously assessed the exposure of Saudi women to mercury, cadmium and lead based on reference values (RVs) established for other populations experiencing differences in environmental exposure, diet and lifestyle as an indicator of background exposure to pollutants. The present study aimed to (1) calculate RV95 for mercury, cadmium and lead in blood and urine from Saudi women based on the 95th percentile of the metal and its corresponding 95% confidence interval (95%CI) as defined by the German Human Biomonitoring Commission, and (2) compare with RV95s established in other countries. RV95s were derived using data from two different human biomonitoring studies measured three metals in the blood (2005-2006), and both urine and blood (2011-2013) from healthy non-smokers and non-occupationally exposed women living in Al-Kharj and Riyadh. RV95s for mercury, cadmium and lead in Al-Kharj (Riyadh) blood were 5.9 (1.6) μg/l, 1.4 (1.9) μg/l and 4.3 (4.8) μg/dl, respectively. RV95s for urinary mercury, cadmium and lead in Riyadh samples expressed in μg/l (μg/g creatinine) were 2.
