HIV, an old enemy dug into trenches in individuals already infected, and SARS-CoV-2 the new army, attempting to attack and capture territories, tissues and organs, in order to provide resources for their expansion. This analogy serves to aid in discussion of three main areas of focus and draw attention to how these viruses may cooperate to gain the upper hand in securing a host. The primary goal of antiretroviral therapy is to prevent human immune deficiency virus (HIV)-related morbidity and mortality. Deferring antiretroviral therapy (ART) until CD4 counts decline puts individuals with HIV at risk of HIV-related morbidity and mortality.
This study aims to assess the effect of the test and treat strategy on mortality among HIV-positive clients on ART in public hospitals in Addis Ababa.
A retrospective cohort study was conducted at five selected public hospitals in Addis Ababa. A cohort of 216 ART clients taken as an exposed group (test and treat" strategy) from 2017 to 2019 and 216 ART clients as an unexposed group taken from 2014 to 2017; totally, 432 clients were included in the study. Multivariate Cox regression was used to estimate the effect of the test and treat strategy on the survival of ART clients adjusting for other covariates.
The 432 clients contributed to a total of 1025.17 person-years follow-up. Ninety-one (21.06%) of them died, 14.3% were unexposed and 6.7% wpublic and private facilities throughout the country.
Cytotoxic drugs (CDs) administration and occupational exposure is a worldwide concern. Inappropriate handling may cause toxic residues to infiltrate hospital environments and patient care areas, and can even be traced to patients' homes. Hence, the study sought to assess knowledge and practices on the safe handling of cytotoxic drugs Among Oncology Nurses at Tertiary Teaching Hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The researchers conducted a hospital-based cross-sectional study among 77 nurses from April 1-30, 2019. Purposive sampling was used in recruiting the respondents. Structured questionnaires were filled through self-administered interviewing. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23 software. To estimate the prevalence and characterize children and adolescents aged 0-21 years with a physically or mentally ill parent based on registers. Further, to explore the use of register and survey data to identify parental serious illness.
The study is based on 1) a 20% register sample of children and adolescents aged 0-21 in 2014; and 2) survey data from the Danish Youth Profile 2014 including 63,437 youth education students linked to registers. In registers, parental physical illness comprised hospital diagnoses included in the Charlson Comorbidity Index, and parental mental illness encompassed all mental diagnosis in the registers. Information about socioeconomic and demographic characteristics and use of health care services was retrieved from national registers. In the survey, students were asked if they had experienced serious illness of a parent.

This study investigated the predictive value of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram parameters of the primary tumor for regional lymph node metastasis (LNM) in pathological T3 stage rectal cancer.
We retrospectively studied 175 patients with T3 stage rectal cancer who underwent preoperative MRI, including diffusion-weighted imaging, between January 2015 and October 2017. Based on pathological analysis of surgical specimens, 113 patients were classified into the LN- group and 62 in the LN+ group. We analyzed clinical data, radiological characteristics and histogram parameters derived from ADC maps.
