The posterior fascia of the parotid gland and the leading edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, posterior belly of the digastric muscle, and styloid hyoid muscle are regarded as landmarks for the SP.
The retroauricular incision starts from the level of the notch between the tragus and extends backward in an arc to avoid injury to the retroauricular branch of the GAN. However, its clinical value and functional mechanisms in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remain poorly understood. We found that DANCR is dramatically up-regulated in human NPC, and that it is an indicator for poor survival prognosis. DANCR knockdown suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation in vitro, and tumorigenicity in vivo. Mechanistic analyses demonstrated that DANCR could bind to RNA-binding protein 3 (RBM3) protein and stabilize SOX2 mRNA, resulting in NPC cell proliferation. Our findings indicate that DANCR functions as an oncogene and a potential therapeutic target for NPC.
Coinciding with the release of the first Chinese domestic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Cecolin in 2019, and the substantial advancements in cervical cancer screening technology, we aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the combined strategies of cervical cancer screening programmes and universal vaccination of girls (aged 9-14 years) with Cecolin in China.
We did a cost-effectiveness analysis in China, in which we developed a Markov model of cervical cancer to evaluate the incremental cost-effectiveness ratios of 61 intervention strategies, including a combination of various screening methods at different frequencies with and without vaccination, and also vaccination alone, from a health-care system perspective. We did univariate and probabilistic sensitivity analyses to assess the robustness of the model's findings.
Compared with no intervention, various combined screening and vaccination strategies would incur an additional cost of US$6 157 000-22 146 000 and result in 691-970 quality-adjuturn for the future vaccination programme. The findings provide important evidence that informs health policies for cervical cancer prevention in China.

Mental disorders can adversely affect HIV treatment outcomes and survival. Data are scarce on premature deaths in people with mental disorders in HIV-positive populations, particularly in low-income and middle-income countries. In this study, we quantified excess mortality associated with mental disorders in HIV-positive people in South Africa, adjusting for HIV treatment outcomes.
For this cohort study, we analysed routinely collected data on HIV-positive adults receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Cape Town, South Africa between Jan 1, 2004, to Dec 31, 2017. Data from three ART programmes were linked with routine medical records on mental health treatment from Jan 1, 2010, to Dec 31, 2017, and mortality surveillance data from the South African National Population Register up to Dec 31, 2017. People living with HIV aged 15 years or older who initiated ART at a programme site were eligible for analysis. We followed up patients from ART initiation or Jan 1, 2010, whichever occurred later, to transfer, illness was associated with substantial excess mortality in HIV-positive adults in Cape Town. Excess mortality among people with a history of mental illness occurred independently of HIV treatment success. Interventions to reduce excess mortality should address the complex physical and mental health-care needs of people living with HIV and mental illness.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in children. Early-life RSV LRTI might affect long-term health but there are few data from low-income and middle-income countries. We investigated the epidemiology and effect of early-life RSV LRTI on lung health in a South African birth cohort.
We conducted the Drakenstein Child Health Study (DCHS), an ongoing birth cohort longitudinal study in the Western Cape province, South Africa. We enrolled pregnant women aged 18 years or older during their second trimester of pregnancy at two public health clinics. We followed up study children from birth to 2 years. The primary outcome of the study was LRTI and RSV LRTI. LRTI and wheezing episodes were identified through active surveillance; respiratory samples were tested for RSV and other pathogens. Wheezing was longitudinally identified by caregiver report and ascertainment at health facilities. Lung function was measured from 6 weeks to 2 years. We analysed the assoe strategies for RSV might have an effect on long-term lung health.

Community-based delivery of antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV, including ART initiation, clinical and laboratory monitoring, and refills, could reduce barriers to treatment and improve viral suppression, reducing the gap in access to care for individuals who have detectable HIV viral load, including men who are less likely than women to be virally suppressed. We aimed to test the effect of community-based ART delivery on viral suppression among people living with HIV not on ART.
We did a household-randomised, unblinded trial (DO ART) of delivery of ART in the community compared with the clinic in rural and peri-urban settings in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and the Sheema District, Uganda. After community-based HIV testing, people living with HIV were randomly assigned (111) with mobile phone software to community-based ART initiation with quarterly monitoring and ART refills through mobile vans; ART initiation at the clinic followed by mobile van monitoring and refills (hybrid approach); or standard clinic ART initiation and refills.
