Beyond smoking, several risk factors for the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been described, among which socioeconomic status including education is of particular interest. We studied the contribution of education to lung function and symptoms relative to smoking in a group of never-smokers with COPD compared to a group of long-time ex-smokers with COPD.
We used baseline data of the COSYCONET cohort, including patients of GOLD grades 1-4 who were either never-smokers (n=150, age 68.5y, 53.3% female) or ex-smokers (≥10 packyears) for at least 10 years (n=616, 68.3y, 29.9% female). Socioeconomic status was analyzed using education level and mortality was assessed over a follow-up period of 4.5 years. Analyses were performed using ANOVA and regression models.

We aim to develop a model to classify whether COPD patients have been continuously managed according to GOLD in the previous year.
The Managed group were COPD patients from a prospectivecohort from November 2017 to November 2019, who have been continuously managed according to GOLD for 1 year. The Control group were COPD patients who were not continuously managed according to GOLD. They were from a retrospective cohort from October 2016 to October 2017 in the same hospitals as the Managed group. A synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) algorithm was used to up-sample the Managed group in a training dataset. Features for classification were selected using a support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm. The BWS exercise assessed the relative prioritization of a larger set of 16 attributes. Hierarchical Bayesian models were used to estimate preference weights for each attribute level.

A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted using adults (≥18 years) with MS (ICD-9-CM 340 and a DMA prescription) from the IBM MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters Database between 2010 and 2012. Patients were grouped into oral fingolimod or injectable DMA users based on the index DMA among patients with MS. The annual DMA adherence trajectories, based on the proportion of days covered (PDC), were examined using group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) during the one-year follow-up period after treatment initiation. Multivariable multinomial logistic regression using stabilized inverse probability treatment weights (IPTW) waster adherence than injectable DMAs across group-based trajectories. Further research is warranted to evaluate the adherence trajectories with newer oral DMAs introduced in the last decade for MS.

A substantial advantage in favor of the MTX-autoinjector A was found with respect to all surveyed indicators. Respectively, 95% and 55% of the users of MTX-autoinjectors A and B claimed to be very or totally satisfied with their familiar MTX-autoinjector.
