Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Select a vacuum that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has an enormous bin that needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature important for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.
Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it has the most up-to-date features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on shelves that you can spin around like the magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It swiftly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back again.
best rated robot vacuum comes with docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and an Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually will suffice). However, this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often goes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top picks, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name is seen on a variety of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the top robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tried which could be a deterrent for some buyers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets when you're away. The filter and the dust bin can be washed for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path and a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This allows them to clean the area for a longer period of time. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. Additionally, you can track the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock for charging by pressing a button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The application also allows you to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without registering the edge. The ability to create the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
