Early detection of eating disorders (EDs) could improve their prognosis, decrease morbidity and mortality, and prevent the risk of evolution towards a chronic form and somatic, psychiatric and psychosocial complications. The objective of this review was to examine the current scientific data concerning the early detection of EDs, which is one of the facets of secondary prevention.

A scoping literature review was carried out following the PRISMA-ScR criteria, including all articles on ED detection published up to 2021 on PUBMED and PSYCINFO.

43 articles were included. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa were the most widely studied disorders. The articles focused on professionals from the medical field (GPs, psychiatrists, gynaecologists, gastroenterologists and residents), from the paramedical field, from education and sport, and from the general population. The assessments conducted with the professionals receiving interventions aiming to improve detection demonstrated their efficacy. Interventions for ED detection in the general population and at school seemed less efficacious.

The results highlighted some lines of action to be implemented. They pointed towards improving initial and continuing education for professional carers; e-learning could be an interesting solution for continuing education. Improving training with specific instructors, school personnel and sports professionals is also one of the solutions for a better detection of EDs. Specific recommendations could be published for fitness centre professionals to help them to deal with clients suspected of having an ED. Among secondary school students and in the general population, a better dissemination of mental health literacy and the development of mental health first aid programs could help improve early detection.

Primary aldosteronism (PA) is the most frequent type of endocrine hypertension. In our previous studies, we introduced two modified diagnostic tests for PA, the post-dexamethasone saline infusion test (DSIT) and the overnight dexamethasone, captopril, and valsartan test (DCVT). In this study, we aimed to validate both tests in respect to the biochemical and clinical response of a cohort of hypertensive patients in pre- and post-surgical setting.

We retrospectively studied 41 hypertensive patients (16 males), with a median (IQR, range) age of 50 (16, 35-74) years and positive histology for adrenal adenoma. Preoperatively, all patients had a single adenoma on CT and a diagnosis of PA with either DSIT or DCVT. Ro 20-1724 The defined daily dose (DDD) of hypertensive drugs was assessed pre- and postoperatively. DSIT or DCVT and basal ARR were reassessed postoperatively.

Two of the 41 patients failed to suppress aldosterone post-surgery, leading to a post-adrenalectomy biochemical cure rate of 95%, while blood pressure was improved in 36 patients, leading to a clinical cure rate of 88% as assessed by the DDD methodology.

This study sought to provide information on de novo use of LCP-Tac in the older adult kidney transplant population.

This single-center retrospective study had two distinct objectives; to determine if weight-based doses of LCP-Tac differ based on recipient age and to compare safety and efficacy between LCP-Tac and immediate-release tacrolimus (IR-Tac) in older adult transplant recipients. Data was obtained through electronic chart review up to 2 years after transplant with censoring for graft loss and death.

Instructions and commands are provided in three languages English, Spanish, and Portuguese.This paper introduces the Grievance Dictionary, a psycholinguistic dictionary that can be used to automatically understand language use in the context of grievance-fueled violence threat assessment. We describe the development of the dictionary, which was informed by suggestions from experienced threat assessment practitioners. These suggestions and subsequent human and computational word list generation resulted in a dictionary of 20,502 words annotated by 2318 participants. The dictionary was validated by applying it to texts written by violent and non-violent individuals, showing strong evidence for a difference between populations in several dictionary categories. Further classification tasks showed promising performance, but future improvements are still needed. Finally, we provide instructions and suggestions for the use of the Grievance Dictionary by security professionals and (violence) researchers.
