These reactions occur under visible light irradiation in the presence of an Ir(III)-based photoredox catalyst, a Bronsted base catalyst, and a hydrogen atom transfer co-catalyst. Reactive alkoxy radicals are proposed as key intermediates, generated via the direct homolytic activation of alcohol O-H bonds through a proton-coupled electron transfer mechanism. This method exhibits a broad substrate scope and high functional group tolerance, and it accommodates a diverse range of alkene substitution patterns. Results demonstrating the extension of this catalytic system to carboetherification reactions are also presented. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.MicroRNAs (miRNA) are short noncoding RNAs that can repress the expression of protein-coding messenger RNAs (mRNAs) by binding to the 3'-untranslated region (UTR) of the target. Genetic mutations such as single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in the 3'-UTR of the mRNAs can disrupt miRNA regulation. In this study, we presented dbMTS, a database for miRNA target site (MTS) SNVs and their functional annotations. This database can help studies easily identify putative SNVs that affect miRNA targeting and facilitate the prioritization of their functional importance. dbMTS is freely available for academic use at http//database.liulab.science/dbMTS as a web service or a downloadable attached database of dbNSFP. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.The cation-π interaction is a strong non-covalent interaction and can be used to prepare high-strength, stable supramolecular materials. However, because the molecular plane of a cation-containing group and that of aromatic structure are usually perpendicular when forming a cation-π complex, it is difficult to exploit the cation-π interaction to prepare a 2D self-assembly in which the molecular plane of all the building blocks are parallel. Herein, we propose a "double cation-π-driven" strategy to overcome this difficulty and have prepared 2D self-assemblies with long-range ordered molecular hollow hexagons. The double cation-π interaction makes the 2D self-assemblies be stable. The 2D self-assemblies are to be an effective carrier that can eliminate metal nanoparticle aggregation. We have demonstrated that such 2D assembly/palladium nanoparticle hybrids exhibit recyclability and superior catalytic activity for a model reaction. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.Dispersal is a critical process for the persistence and productivity of marine populations. For many reef species, there is increasing evidence that local demography and self-recruitment have major consequences on their genetic diversity and adaptation to environmental change. Yet empirical data of dispersal patterns in reef-building species remain scarce. Here, we document the first genetic estimates of self-recruitment and dispersal distances in a free-spawning marine invertebrate, the hydrocoral Millepora cf. platyphylla. Using twelve microsatellite markers, we gathered genotypic information from 3,160 georeferenced colonies collected over 9,000 m2 of a single reef in three adjacent habitats in Moorea, French Polynesia; the mid slope, upper slope, and back reef. Although the adult population was predominantly clonal (85% were clones), our parentage analysis revealed a moderate self-recruitment rate with a minimum of 8% of sexual propagules produced locally. Assigned offspring often settled at less than 10 meters from their parents and dispersal events decrease with increasing geographic distance. There were no discrepancies between the dispersal distances of offspring assigned to parents belonging to clonal versus non-clonal genotypes. Inter-habitat dispersal events via cross-reef transport were also detected for sexual and asexual propagules. Sibship analysis showed that full siblings recruit nearby on the reef (more than 40% settled at less then 30 m), resulting in sibling aggregations. Our findings highlight the importance of self-recruitment together with clonality in stabilizing population dynamics, which may ultimately enhance local sustainability and resilience to disturbance. In this study, an ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid triple quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry method was developed to characterize and compare the metabolic profiling of isovitexin experimented on normal and kidney stone model (KSM) rats. The comparative research indicated that 28 metabolites (18 phase I and 10 phase II) in normal rats and 33 metabolites (20 phase I and 13 phase II) in KSM rats were initially identified. The results of relative quantitative determination reflected that the contents of metabolites produced by deglycosylation, reduction and isomerization in KSM rats were greater than those in healthy rats. Instead, the levels of oxidative and dehydrogenated metabolites in normal groups were higher than those in KSM groups. The results of this study are valuable and important for understanding the metabolic process of isovitexin in clinical application, and especially the metabolism study in KSM rats could provide a beneficial reference for the further search of effective substances associated with the treatment of kidney stones. Methodologies designed to examine the impact of violence have been structured to primarily examine the interpersonal. However, scholars in community psychology, anthropology, and social work, and so forth, have recognized additional dimensions of violence that impact marginalized populations by restricting agency and negatively affecting physical and mental health, such as structural violence. Given growing interest in multiple forms of violence, new methodologies are required to holistically capture the full impact of violence on individuals. This article will discuss a unique methodology designed to investigate multiple forms of violence by melding semi-structured place-based interviews, family history interviews, walking interviews, and physiological data on heart rate coordinated with GPS data. This novel combination of methods allowed the researcher to deepen understanding of the relationship between place and violence while also highlighting the voices and experiences of young adults.
