Aspirin has recently emerged as an anticancer drug, but its therapeutic effect on lung cancer has been rarely reported, and the mechanism of action is still unclear. Our data suggest that cancer sensitivity to combined therapy using low concentrations of celecoxib and aspirin was higher than that of celecoxib or aspirin alone. Further research showed that the anti-tumor effect of celecoxib combined with aspirin was mainly produced by activating caspase-9/caspase-3, arresting cell cycle and inhibiting the ERK-MAPK signaling pathway. In addition, celecoxib alone or in combination with aspirin inhibited the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells by inhibiting MMP-9 and MMP-2 activity levels. Our aim was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of 3 months' adjuvant chemotherapy
6 months in high-risk (T4 stage + microsatellite stable) stage II colon cancer (CC) patients.

Using the validated PATTERN Markov cohort model, which simulates the disease progression of stage II CC patients from diagnosis to death, we first evaluated a reference strategy in which high-risk patients were treated with chemotherapy for 6 months. In the second strategy, treatment duration was shortened to 3 months. Both strategies were evaluated for CAPOX (capecitabine plus oxaliplatin) and FOLFOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin and oxaliplatin). Based on trial data, we assumed that shortened treatment duration compared with a 6-month regimen was equally effective for CAPOX and less effective for FOLFOX. Pharmacological studies had shown that SB has a wide range of pharmacological activities such as antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, liver protection, etc. The active ingredients of SB were mostly distributed in liver and kidney, and couldn't be absorbed into brain via oral absorption. SB's toxicity was mostly manifested in liver fibrosis and allergic reactions, mainly caused by baicalin. The non-medicinal application prospects of SB were broad, such as antibacterial plastics, UV-resistant silk, animal feed, etc. In response to the Coronavirus Disease In 2019 (COVID-19), based on the network pharmacology research, SB's active ingredients may have potential therapeutic effects, such as baicalin and baicalein. Therefore, the exact therapeutic effects are still need to be determined in clinical trials. SB has been reviewed in the past 2 years, but the content of these articles were not comprehensive and accurate. In view of the above, we made a comprehensive overview of the research progress of SB, and expect to provide ideas for the follow-up study of SB.
TAS-102 is an oral monotherapy, combining trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride, indicated for the treatment of pretreated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The aim of this real-life study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TAS-102 in heavily pretreated elderly patients with mCRC whose disease has progressed with standard therapies.

In this retrospective observational study, we enrolled 50 elderly patients >70 years of age (median age 78 years) with a diagnosis of mCRC who were previously treated or were not considered candidates for treatment with other available therapies. Patients aged >70 years with advanced colorectal cancer and with an ECOG performance status of grade 0 (
=18) or grade 1 (
=32) were included. Overall survival and progression-free survival were the primary endpoints, whereas objective response rate, tolerability, and quality of life were the secondary endpoints.

Treatment with TAS-102 appeared to be well tolerated and side effects were generally mild, achieving disease control and a benefit on quality of life. The median overall survival was 6.7 (95% CI 5.7-11.3) and the median progression-free survival was 2.1 months (95% CI 1.2-3.2), estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method.

TAS-102 represents a manageable and effective therapeutic opportunity and appeared to be well tolerated with generally mild side effects in elderly patients with mCRC who were heavily pretreated with standard therapies.
