Functional characterization of muscarinic cholinergic receptors in myelinating glial cells has been well described both in central and peripheral nervous system. Rat Schwann cells (SCs) express different muscarinic receptor subtypes with the prevalence of the M2 subtype. The selective stimulation of this receptor subtype inhibits SC proliferation, improving their differentiation towards myelinating phenotype. In this work, we describe for the first time that human SCs are cholinoceptive as they express several muscarinic receptor subtypes and, as for rat SCs, M2 receptor is one of the most abundant. Human SCs, isolated from adult nerves, were cultured in vitro and stimulated with M2 muscarinic agonist arecaidine propargyl ester (APE). Similarly to that observed in rat, M2 receptor activation causes a decreased cell proliferation and promotes SC differentiation as suggested by increased Egr2 expression with an improved spindle-like shape cell morphology. Conversely, the non-selective stimulation of muscarinic receptors appears to promote cell proliferation with a reduction of SC average cell diameter. The data obtained demonstrate that human SCs are cholinoceptive and that human cultured SCs may represent an interesting tool to understand their physiology and increase the knowledge on how the cholinergic stimulation may contribute to address human SC development in normal and pathological conditions. The paper compared the tensile strength and elongation at break of cement-emulsified asphalt-standard sand (CAS) mortar and cement-emulsified asphalt-rubber particle (CAR) mortar. The tensile properties of CAS and CAR mortars were investigated. Microscopic analysis was carried out by Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive Spectrometer. The test results showed that the tensile strength of the CAR mortar at 7 days improved by about 9.09% higher than that of the CAS mortar, and further increased to 17.76% higher at 28 days The values of elongation at break of the CAR mortars at 3 days, 7 days, and 28 days increased by about 70% higher than those of the CAS mortars. Microscopic analysis showed that in the hardened CAS mortar, an obvious bubble accumulation layer with many pores appeared at the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). In the hardened CAR mortar, asphalt wrapped both cement hydration products and rubber particles and formed an integrated structure where a relatively dense and strong ITZ was formed as a result. This paper proves that the CAR system has superior tensile properties and has a promising future in waste rubber disposal. In this article, we demonstrate how an original effective "metal-free" and "chromatography-free" route for the synthesis of 3-thiocyanatopyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines has been developed. It is based on electrooxidative (anodic) C-H thiocyanation of 5-aminopyrazoles by thiocyanate ion leading to 4-thiocyanato-5-aminopyrazoles (stage 1, yields up to 87%) following by their chemical condensation with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds or their derivatives (stage 2, yields up to 96%). This method is equally effective for the synthesis of 3-thiocyanatopyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines, both without substituents and with various donor (acceptor) substituents in the pyrimidine ring. The worldwide, extraordinary outbreak of coronavirus pandemic (i.e., COVID-19) and other emerging viral expansions have drawn particular interest to the design and development of novel antiviral, and viricidal, agents, with a broad-spectrum of antiviral activity. The current indispensable challenge lies in the development of universal virus repudiation systems that are reusable, and capable of inactivating pathogens, thus reducing risk of infection and transmission. In this review, science-based methods, mechanisms, and procedures, which are implemented in obtaining resultant antiviral coated substrates, used in the destruction of the strains of the different viruses, are reviewed. The constituent antiviral members are classified into a few broad groups, such as polymeric materials, metal ions/metal oxides, and functional nanomaterials, based on the type of materials used at the virus contamination sites. The action mode against enveloped viruses was depicted to vindicate the antiviral mechanism. We also disclose hypothesized strategies for development of a universal and reusable virus deactivation system against the emerging COVID-19. In the surge of the current, alarming scenario of SARS-CoV-2 infections, there is a great necessity for developing highly-innovative antiviral agents to work against the viruses. We hypothesize that some of the antiviral coatings discussed here could exert an inhibitive effect on COVID-19, indicated by the results that the coatings succeeded in obtaining against other enveloped viruses. Consequently, the coatings need to be tested and authenticated, to fabricate a wide range of coated antiviral products such as masks, gowns, surgical drapes, textiles, high-touch surfaces, and other personal protective equipment, aimed at extrication from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adenomyosis is a gynaecological condition with limited evidence of negative impact to endometrial receptivity. It is commonly associated with endometriosis, which has been shown to alter endometrial expression patterns. Therefore, the candidate genes identified in endometriosis could serve as a source to study endometrial function in adenomyosis.

Transcripts/proteins associated with endometrial receptivity in women with adenomyosis or endometriosis and healthy women were obtained from publications and their nomenclature was adopted according to the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC). Retrieved genes were analysed for enriched pathways using Cytoscape/Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins (STRING) and Reactome tools to prioritise candidates for endometrial receptivity. Lanraplenib Syk inhibitor These were used for validation on women with (
= 9) and without (
= 13) adenomyosis.

Functional enrichment analysis of 173, 42 and 151 genes associated with endometriosis, adenomyosis and healthy women, respectively, revealed signalling by interleukins and interleukin-4 and interleukin-13 signalling pathways, from which annotated

were prioritised. Selected genes showed downregulated expression levels in adenomyosis compared to the control group, but without statistical significance.

This is the first integrative study providing putative candidate genes and pathways characterising endometrial receptivity in women with adenomyosis in comparison to healthy women and women with endometriosis.
