Our case is that of a 65-year-old woman with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and right hip osteoarthritis undergoing a right total hip arthroplasty who received a preoperative ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca block with the adjuvants dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine added to the injectate. The surgery was uneventful. We report the use of the banded bag for extubation to contain infectious aerosols. The banded bag is a clear and disposable shower-cap style image intensifier cover which is commonly used as a sterile cover for mobile X-ray systems. With the addition of a filtered suction, safe air exchange rates can be obtained. We anticipate that the banded bag, which is economical, convenient, and highly practical, can be used as a safety-enhancing device for COVID-19 extubations.Crossed fused renal ectopia (CFRE) is a rare congenital abnormality of the urinary tract where the kidneys are fused on one side, while the ureter of the ectopic kidney crosses the midline with the normal entrance in the bladder on the contralateral side. Congenital anomalies are associated with a stone formation whose management represents a real challenge. To our knowledge, we report the second case of CFRE associated with ureteral stone, which has been successfully resolved with Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) and the first of its kind where a sufficient degree of stone disintegration has been achieved after a single session with a complete stone clearance during the follow-up. Radiological examination showed an inferior type of CFRE with stone in the proximal part of the ureter of the upper kidney. ESWL is an acceptable and effective treatment option in CFRE patients due to the minimally invasive approach, potentially high stone-free rate, and rare complications.
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is an internationally recognized leading cause of disability and contributes to childhood morbidity and mortality. The prevalence of IDA is higher in developing countries, especially in Arab countries, compared to the west.

To assess the prevalence of IDA, we analyzed the data of children aged between one to five yearsseen at Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group's tertiary care hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 2016 to 2018.

We found a high occurrence of IDA in male children and non-Emirati children.

Appropriate screening and iron supplementation are required to see a decline in the rate of IDA. Further nationwide studies are required to identify the highly prevalent and high-risk areas of IDA in the UAE.

Hearing loss is considered to be one of the most commonly detectable problems, which often goes unnoticed or not given proper attention due to the lack of screening modalities or the inability of parents or guardians to recognize it in early stages. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the pattern of differences pertaining to hearing loss among pre-school children of various age groups to better approach this issue in a systemic and fundamental manner, so that better care and treatment can be provided to children suffering from deafness. Methods This study involved a descriptive, retrospective chart review in two hospital settings, and it was conducted at the department of physiology (neurophysiology) of King Abdulaziz and King Khalid University Hospitals at the King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh during the period of 2012-2017. A total of 324 pre-school Saudi children from the age of two to five years were involved and tested by brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs) to assess deafness.
