Specimens rinsed in 2% CHG showed a significant increase in Vickers hardness number (VHN) values (
< 0.05), as compared with EDTA and NaOCl groups, whereas saline and 2% NaF groups showed no significant difference.
NaF did not show any significant effect on microhardness of the root dentin. CHG as an irrigant was seen to have a strengthening effect on dentin microhardness in comparison to NaOCl and EDTA, which has decreased the strength of root dentin.

This study aimed to analyze Jordanian dentists' inquiries on oral infections and antimicrobial prescribing using dental professional WhatsApp groups during coronavirus disease lockdown period.
Three professional WhatsApp groups of Jordanian dentists were reviewed and analyzed for inquiries posted during the period from January to May 2020. Inquiries were sent from patients to their dentists who posted these inquiries to the professional WhatsApp dental groups for consultation and professional advice. All queries regarding oral infections and antimicrobial prescribing were extracted and analyzed.
Three WhatsApp professional groups with a total numbers of members of 750 dentists who posted queries about their patients were included in this study. Dentist members posted queries about their patients to these professional WhatsApp groups. THZ1 There was a total of 32 inquiries regarding oral lesions and 11 consultations regarding prescribing and dental management of medically compromised patients giving a totaidered to focus on clinical manifestations of various oral infections. Further, educational activities that focus on variations in treatment protocols for various infections should be introduced particularly those that concern indications for antimicrobial prescribing.
Vertical proportions of the face are important determining factors for diagnosis and planning appropriate orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic patients have different vertical and sagittal skeletal discrepancies, as well as associated varying degrees of dentoalveolar compensations. Dentoalveolar is a functional component of the jaw; it plays a role in occlusal dynamics and forms sagittal and vertical maxilla-mandibula relationships. This study aims to analyze the relationship between dentoalveolar heights and several vertical skeletal patterns in patients with Class I malocclusion in ethnic Javanese.
The sample consisted of lateral cephalograms of 75 patients (18 samples were male, and 57 were female). Determined by inclusion and exclusion criteria, the participants were selected from an initial sample of 196 patients with skeletal Class I malocclusion (sella-nasion-A and B [ANB] = 1-4 degrees). Cephalometric analysis was performed using OrthoVision2017 digital software. This analysis measured upper anterfacial height included either the extrusion or intrusion of the anterior or posterior teeth in different ways.
Patients with Class I malocclusion in ethnic Javanese exhibit a significant correlation between dentoalveolar and vertical skeletal patterns. UPDH and/or LPDH have a significantly positive correlation with SN-MP, S-Go, Ar-Go, N-Me, and ANS-Me. The orthodontic correction of the decreased or increased facial height included either the extrusion or intrusion of the anterior or posterior teeth in different ways.
The aim of the present
study is to compare the remineralization brushing effect of three toothpastes and
(AV) gel.
Forty sound extracted teeth were placed in a demineralizing solution for 4 days and randomly assigned to four groups group A 1,450-ppm fluoride toothpaste; group B AV nonfluoridated toothpaste; group C AV 1,000-ppm fluoridated toothpaste; and group D AV gel. A 3-minute pH cycling was performed twice a day for each group for 12 days. Specimens were analyzed before and after by scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray.
The outcomes were analyzed by Kolmogorov-Smirnov's tests, repeated-measures analyses of variance followed by univariate analyses, and Bonferroni's multiple comparisons tests to compare the calcium-to-phosphorus (CaP) ratio within time among toothpaste groups.
Following remineralization, the CaP ratio increased in all groups. The difference of the CaP ratio was not significant between groups C, D, and A. The mean ratio was significantly lower in group B (
-value = 0.026).
The AV gel demonstrated a remineralization capacity equal to that of the 1,450-ppm fluoride toothpaste. In contrast, fluoride-free AV toothpaste showed a lower remineralization efficiency. Further studies are required to understand its mechanism.

This study aimed to identify differences in sequential integrated screening and early ultrasound markers in monochorionic/diamniotic (MC/DA) pregnancies complicated by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and unequal placental sharing (UPS).
Retrospective cohort study of MC/DA pregnancies evaluated between January 2012 and July 2017 at the University of California San Francisco. MC/DA pregnancies with ultrasound surveillance up to 26 weeks who participated in the California Prenatal Screening Program (CPSP) were included. Pregnancies with structural or genetic anomalies were excluded. UPS was defined as an intertwin growth discordance ≥20%. Intertwin nuchal translucency (NT) discordance was calculated by the absolute value of the difference of the NT of cotwins. Kruskal-Wallis or ANOVA testing was performed where appropriate, and negative binomial regression models were chosen to test for differences in mean biomarker levels by outcome group.
A total of 191 MC/DA pregnancies were included; 85 were affected by TTTS, 35 by UPS, and 71 controls.
