14 Questions You're Insecure To Ask About Robot Vac
Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of manual hoovering. Find one that has an easy navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only once in a while.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage that is essential for families with pets or children. Many of the best performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those looking for a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It may get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It can quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a big improvement over older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical and not a remarkable time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's still enough time to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its original location.

top rated robot vacuum is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode on its own, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home So it's no surprise that they're one of the most popular robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which might be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets while you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you browse the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app lets you modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for instance has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
