The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detectors) are both positives.
Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.
For larger homes it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. robot vacuum hoover does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
