Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Select a vacuum that has good navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners, and that has a large bin that only needs to be emptied periodically.
There are also models that clean and charge themselves which can be important for people with pets or kids. The top performers in our tests have great obstacles to avoid.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous use. best robot hoover takes three hours to charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.
In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task being performed. It is able to swiftly change between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. best robot cleaner is a significant improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home but not long enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top picks such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation capabilities and is better able to maneuver its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and many more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a problem for certain shoppers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you check in on your pets or children while you are away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for longer. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's collecting dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also has an app that allows you to view a virtual map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily tell the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.
The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot should you need to. For example, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can cause confusion for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
