Also one way Analysis of variance (ANOVA) with post hoc Tuckey were used to clarify between groups differences in probe test. The Group receiving Aβ, showed significant cognition deficit (long latency to platform and short total time spent in target quadrant (TTS), parallel with lower level of hippocampal CREB, versus vehicle group. While, Aβ+ GluR23Y exhibited the shortest latency to platform and the longest TTS during the probe test, parallel with the higher hippocampal level of CREB compared with other groups. The present study provides evidence that chronic administration of Tat-GluR23Y; an inhibitor of GluA2-AMPARs endocytosis, successfully restores spatial memory impaired by amyloid beta neurotoxicity targeting CREB signaling pathway. While expanded polystyrene (EPS) microplastics have been widely recognized as one of the most important components of plastic litter in the intertidal zones of the global ocean, our understanding of their environmental fate on island beaches is insufficient. In this study, we intended to reveal that the latest EPS microplastic pollution status on 5 island beaches in the Pearl River Estuary, China, by comprehensively assessing the abundance, distribution, size, surface texture and carrying capacity of heavy metals (Cd, As, Cr, Ni, Cu, Pb, Mn, Fe, Al). High level of EPS microplastic abundance ranged from 328 to 82,276 particles m-2 was found, with the highest abundance at Guishan Island and the lowest at Dong'ao Island. Spatial distribution of EPS microplastic abundance was significantly different among different islands. EPS microplastics in the size range of 1-2 mm were the most abundant. The content of heavy metals in EPS microplastics collected on the beaches was greater than that in the new EPS products. The average concentrations of heavy metals in EPS microplastics from 5 islands are Cd (0.27 ± 0.19 μg g-1), As (5.50 ± 3.84 μg g-1), Cr (14.9 ± 8.25 μg g-1), Cu (15.0 ± 7.66 μg g-1), Ni (17.2 ± 17.6 μg g-1), Pb (24.8 ± 7.39 μg g-1), Mn (730 ± 797 μg g-1), Fe (8340 ± 4760 μg g-1), and Al (9624 ± 6187 μg g-1), respectively. The correlation between heavy metals in EPS microplastics and sediments was better than that between heavy metals in EPS microplastics and seawater. The study results indicated that EPS microplastics could act as a carrier for the transport of heavy metals, which might pose a threat to biological and human health.Carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) exerts strong adsorption capacity for pentachlorophenol (PCP) and they inevitably co-occur in the environment, but few studies have characterized the effects of MWCNT-COOH on the bioavailability of PCP and its oxidative and tissue damages to fish. In this work, we assessed the PCP accumulation in different organs and the induced oxidative and tissue damages of goldfish following 50-d in vivo exposure to PCP alone or co-exposure with MWCNT-COOH. Our results indicated that PCP bioaccumulation in goldfish liver, gill, muscle, intestine and gut contents was inhibited after co-exposure with MWCNT-COOH in uptake phase. PCP exposure alone and co-exposure with MWCNT-COOH evoked severe oxidative and tissue damages in goldfish bodies, as indicated by significant inhibition of activities of antioxidant enzymes, remarkable decrease in glutathione level, simultaneous elevation of malondialdehyde content, and obvious histological damages to liver and gill. Atglistatin The decreased accumulation of PCP in the presence of MWCNT-COOH led to the reduction of PCP-induced toxicity to liver tissues, as confirmed by the alleviation of hepatic oxidative damages. However, co-exposure groups had higher concentrations of PCP in the tissues than PCP treatment alone (p less then 0.05 each) in the depuration phase, revealing that MWCNT-COOH-bound pollutants might pose higher risk once desorbed from the nanoparticles. These results provided substantial information regarding the combined effects of PCP and MWCNT-COOH on aquatic species, which helps to deeply understand the potential ecological risks of the emerging pollutants.
Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is often indicated in elderly patients with displaced proximal humerus fractures (PHF). The rate of greater tuberosity (GT) healing varies from 37 to 90% in this population. The aim of this study was to assess greater and lesser tuberosity (LT) fixation and healing on CT scan after RSA for PHF. Our hypothesis was that both GT and LT healing leads to better functional results after RSA for fracture.
Our retrospective cohort consisted of 28 patients treated with an RSA for a four-part PHF during the inclusion period. The mean age at surgery was 77 years. Clinical examination and CT scan were performed at a minimum one year follow-up to assess tuberosity position and healing.
The GT healed in 22 patients (78.5%), the LT in 24 patients (87.5%) and both tuberosities were healed in 20 patients (71.5%). Constant score was significantly improved with GT, LT and both tuberosity healing (p = 0.05, p = 0.04 and p = 0.02 respectively). Motion in anterior elevation was improved with GT and both tuberosity healing (p = 0.01 and p = 0.04 respectively). Motion in external rotation was improved with GT and both tuberosity healing (p = 0.01 and p = 0.02 respectively).
GT and LT healing was associated with better functional results and active motion. Anatomical reduction and consolidation of both tuberosities is beneficial with a cumulative effect for functional recovery.

However, at our institution, we have successfully substituted another calcineurin inhibitor, tacrolimus, as a part of immunosuppressive threatment (IST) for AA due to more favorable toxicity profile. Since there is limited data on the use of tacrolimus in aplastic anemia, we conducted a retrospective review of twenty patients treated with tacrolimus-based immunosuppressive therapy (IST) as a first- or second-line treatment. The overall response rate was comparable to that of patients treated with CsA (18 patients). However, there were no cutaneous side effects observed in patients receiving tacrolimus, a relatively common finding with CsA use. Our data suggest that tacrolimus-based IST is a potential option in AA and might have a more favorable toxicity profile compared to CsA.
