Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Find one that has an easy navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.
There are also models that mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have children or pets. The top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also offers the ability to connect two attachments and an handheld. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every spot. (A second time usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the most popular mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to understand and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. best robot vacuum allows you to keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This allows them to clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. The vacuum also has an app that lets users to see an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to the dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. Also, the ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
