Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. Many of the top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It is able to quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. top robot vacuum offers the ability to connect two attachments as well as an handheld. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your children or pets while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuums that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. top robot vacuum have a wider cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging with the click of a button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot should you need to. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
