Lock-in thermography demonstrated that the cooling effect is associated with an immediate mobilization and accumulation of water in the leaves. Our study highlights new physiological and physical aspects of the plants response to UV-B radiation and, more in general, it opens new opportunities for the use of the thermography as smart tool for real-time monitoring of plant environmental interactions.Objectives Today all pregnant women are recommended to participate in moderate intensity aerobic and resistance-based physical activity/exercise ≥150 min/week. However, there are still controversies and scant knowledge on the role of regular exercise on delivery outcomes, including mode of delivery and length of active labour. In addition, nutritional counselling have often been examined together with exercise, which may independently effect the outcomes. Hence, the aims of the present study were to investigate the sole effect of supervised group exercise, including pelvic floor muscle training on course of labour and mode of delivery. Study design A single blind, randomized controlled trial, performed in the municipality of Oslo, Norway. Out of 105 healthy, inactive nulliparous women, initially enrolled (gestation week 17.7 ± 4.2) to study the effect regular aerobic exercise (60 min 2/week) on health benefits for both mother and her baby, 90 (85.7%) completed postpartum follow-up (7.7 ± 1.7) on labour outcome control group (p = 0.051). Conclusions Regular exercise during pregnancy decreased duration of total active labour and showed a trend towards more normal vaginal deliveries among participants who adhered to the prescribed program. Recently, experimental and clinical data have shown that NAc, particularly NAc shell (NAcs), participates in ictogenesis and epileptogensis in drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE). Therefore, we summarize the existing literature on NAcs and potential role in epilepsy, from the bench to the clinic. Connection abnormalities between NAcs and remainings, degeneration of NAc neurons, and an aberrant distribution of neuroactive substances have been reported in patients with DRE. These changes may be underlying the pathophysiological mechanism of the involvement of NAcs in DRE. Furthermore, alterations in NAcs may also be involved in neuropsychiatric disorders in patients with DRE. These observational studies demonstrate the multiple properties of NAcs and the complex relationship between the limbic system and DRE with neuropsychiatric disorders. NAcs can be a potential target for DBS and stereotactic lesioning to manage DRE with neuropsychiatric disorders. Overall, this study provides a new strategy for design of therapeutic nanomedicines consisting of dually hydrophobic molecules for cancer therapy.Oxathiino[6,5-b]pyridine 2,2-dioxides are identified as a new class of isoform-selective nanomolar inhibitors of tumor associated human carbonic anhydrases (hCA) IX and XII. At the same time they do not inhibit or poorly inhibit cytosolic isoforms hCA I and II. Oxathiino[6,5-b]pyridine 2,2-dioxides exhibited good antiproliferative properties on tumor cell lines MCF-7 (Human breast adenocarcinoma), A549 (human lung (alveolar) adenocarcinoma) and HeLa (epithelioid cervix carcinoma).
