Importantly, we show that the cleaved fragments, both extracellular domain and intracellular domain of a common disease associated I794T variant, were decreased significantly. Together, our studies demonstrate a stepwise approach of human CSF1R cleavage and contribute to understand the pathogenicity of CSF1R I794T variant in adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia (ALSP). These studies also suggest that the cleaved ectodomain fragment released from CSF1R may be proposed as a diagnostic biomarker for ALSP.The concept of chiral electroauxiliary based on the redox active chiral platform to perform transformations of a redox inactive substrate is suggested and discussed in the context of the targeted stereoselective electrochemical functionalization of amino acids. Tailor-made amino acids are essential structural features of modern medicinal chemistry and drug design; the development of efficient synthetic approaches to these compounds is of topical interest. The modified substrate (an amino acid) is included as a structural motif in the redox active complex (with a possibility to be released after modification) that integrates "a bifunctional linker" (the structural motif capable to "catch" a substrate) and a chiral moiety responsible for asymmetry induction. The amino acid, being included as a part of such ensemble, becomes stable towards redox destruction and its targeted electrochemical modification saving the amino acid skeleton is possible, thus developing new modes of reactivity for well-known compounds.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of three common deformable image registration (DIR) packages across algorithms and institutions.
The Deformable Image Registration Evaluation Project (DIREP) provides ten virtual phantoms derived from computed tomography (CT) datasets of head-and-neck cancer patients over a single treatment course. Using the DIREP phantoms, DIR results from 35 institutions were submitted using either Velocity, MIM, or Eclipse. Submitted deformation vector fields (DVFs) were compared to ground-truth DVFs to calculate target registration error (TRE) for six regions of interest (ROIs). Statistical analysis was performed to determine the variability between each DIR software package and the variability of users within each algorithm.
Overall mean TRE was 2.04±0.35mm for Velocity, 1.10±0.29mm for MIM, and 2.35±0.15mm for Eclipse. The MIM mean TRE was significantly different than both Velocity and Eclipse for all ROIs. Endotoxin Velocity and Eclipse mean TREs were not significanss then 3 mm for all three software platforms. However, maximum errors could be larger than 2 cm indicating that care should be exercised when using DIR. While MIM performed statistically better than the other packages, all evaluated algorithms had an average TRE better than the largest voxel dimension. For the phantoms studied here, significant differences between algorithm users were minimal suggesting that the algorithm used may have more impact on DIR accuracy than the particular registration technique employed. A significant difference in TRE was discovered between MIM versions showing that DIR QA should be performed after software upgrades as recommended by TG-132.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship among vitamin D nutritional status, bone mineral density, and other factors in elderly patients with brittle hip fractures.
The present study was a retrospective analysis of 268 patients, 102 men (38.06%) and 166 women (61.94%), with brittle hip fractures admitted to the Hip Joint Center of Tianjin Hospital from February 2016 to June 2018. The median age of the patients was 74 years (range, 50-93 years). The patients were divided into three groups based on age ≤69 years, 70-79 years, and ≥80 years. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D
(25(OH) D
), parathyroid hormone (PTH), body mass index (BMI), and bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine, femoral neck, and hip were measured and statistically analyzed.
The median serum 25(OH)D
level of patients was 9.90 (range, 2.60-42.70) ng/mL; the proportion of deficiency was 89.18% and the deficiency was severe in 136 cases (49.25%). The proportion of vitamin D deficiency was significantly lower in menrease and PTH increases. The decrease of BMD in patients with hip fractures is the result of a combination of age, gender, BMI, and vitamin D content.
Vitamin D deficiency is common in patients with brittle hip fractures, especially in women. With the increase of age, vitamin D continues to decrease and PTH increases. The decrease of BMD in patients with hip fractures is the result of a combination of age, gender, BMI, and vitamin D content.
Given positive attitudes to volunteering are likely to be associated with support for volunteering and individual participation, this study aimed to develop and test a 10-item 'attitudes to formal volunteering' scale for retired older adults that could be used to inform intervention efforts.
A sample of 801 Australian retirees (62% female; mean age 71.9years) completed a survey that included the attitude scale, demographic items and questions assessing engagement in volunteering.
A principal component analysis identified two factors (general attitude to volunteering and attitude to participating in volunteering) that together accounted for 64% of the variance in attitude scores. A confirmatory factor analysis indicated the two-factor model was an excellent fit to the data. Cronbach's alphas for both factors were >0.80, and both were positively associated with volunteering engagement.
The proposed scale is a potentially useful instrument for measuring attitudes to volunteering among retired older adults.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of thoracic duct embolization (TDE) on the management of postoperative chyle leakage.
We retrospectively reviewed the electronic medical record database of 4171 patients who underwent curative resection for lung or esophageal cancer between January 2015 and June 2017. We classified the period before the introduction of TDE as the first period and the period after the introduction of TDE as the second period.
A total of 105 patients who developed chyle leakage after surgery were included. In the first period, 49 patients who underwent lung surgery developed chylothorax. Of those, two patients (4.1%) underwent surgical ligation of the thoracic duct (TD). Of eight patients with chyle leakage after esophagectomy, four patients (50%) underwent TD ligation. In the second period, 30 patients developed postoperative chyle leakage after pulmonary resection. Only one (3.3%) of them required surgical ligation. Of eight patients with chyle leakage after esophagectomy, only two (11.
