Methods With this retrospective cohort study, we sought to determine whether a shorter cervical length (≤25 vs. >25 mm) is associated with a shorter latency period in twin pregnancies complicated by PPROM. At McMaster University Medical Centre, a tertiary care centre, we used the Better Outcomes Registry Network (BoRN) database to identify patient records that met our criteria for inclusion over a 5-year period. Results Forty-three records were included in our analysis. On average, shorter cervical length was statistically significantly associated with a 6-day shorter latency period (P = 0.035). Confounders were controlled for using ANCOVA statistical analysis. A moderate, positive correlation between cervical length and latency period was also identified (r = 0.4). Conclusion Understanding that a shorter cervical length is associated with a shorter latency period can assist clinicians in optimizing maternal counselling and patient care, including triaging transfers to tertiary care centres.Ethnopharmacological relevance For more than ten scores years, the leaves and fruits of Nitraria sibirica have been used as a natural remedy for indigestion, irregular manes, and hypertension in the Middle East and Central Asia, especially, are recommended for hypertension treatment in the northwest region, China. Aim of the study we aimed to support the traditional usage of N. sibirica leaves as pharmaceuticals or dietary supplements in treatment of hypertension by investigating their chemical constituents and anti-hypertensive activity. Ophthalmic and neurological examinations, MRI brain, ESR and CRP were unrevealing. A few days later she developed vision loss in her left eye. Exam revealed decreased visual acuity with a relative afferent pupillary defect in the left eye, and a diffuse mild swelling of the left optic nerve head. Repeat MRI showed T2 hyperintensity and enhancement of the intraorbital optic nerve and surrounding tissues with no other intracranial abnormalities. She was treated with IV methylprednisolone 1000mg daily for 3 days and was discharged on prolonged prednisone taper with return of vision to baseline.Introduction Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can induce vertigo in patients undergoing such examinations. The severity of the vertigo is thought to increase with higher magnetic field strengths and could cause a patient to fall. The study assessed the awareness levels on MRI-induced vertigo among a cohort of MRI radiographers and their perspectives on the care that should be administered to patients post MRI examinations. Methods The study utilized a quantitative cross-sectional research design and a questionnaire. Out of a total of 40 MRI-radiographers identified nationwide, 31 participated in the study. Statistical Package for Social Sciences v.21.0 was used to analyse the data. Results Most participants (n = 21, 67.7%) were aware of MRI-induced vertigo. Many knew that patients (able and weaker) need to be assisted off the couch (n = 28, 90.3%) and escorted to the changing rooms post MRI examinations (n = 31,100%). There were statistically significant associations between the size of magnetic field strength used by the participants and their level of awareness about MRI-induced vertigo (r = 0.691, p = 0.003), appreciation of the needed support for patients post MRI examinations (r = 0.530, p = 0.041) and the frequency of occurrence of MRI-induced vertigo among their patients (r = 0.530, p = 0.001). Conclusion The radiographers were mostly cognisant of MRI-induced vertigo and the supported care they were supposed to administer to their patients. The size of magnetic field strength used by the participants correlated with their level of awareness about MRI-induced vertigo and their appreciation of the needed support for patients post MRI examinations. Implication for practice The study highlights the need for a refresher training to expand the knowledge-base of a few of the radiographers who were not very cognisant about MRI-induced vertigo.Introduction The value of combined blended and experiential learning on radiographer diagnostic comment has not been explored. This study aims to examine the accuracy of image interpretation comment of radiographers who received a period of blended and experiential learning in Radiographer Abnormality Detection Systems (RADS). Methods We evaluated the diagnostic opinions of 13 radiographers who received a blended training and experiential learning (a process of self-learning and reflection) in RADS. Radiographers' opinions on 16,483 images were examined using the final radiologists' report as a reference standard. For each radiographer, we recorded the number of true positive, true negative, false positive and false negative opinions and MedCal® was used to calculate diagnostic performance and error rates. A t-test was used to assess whether the number of images read was associated with performance and whether the radiographers retained performance over time. Results Sensitivity ranged from 87.4 (84.0-90.2) to 98.
