A total of 696 observations were generated from data collected from 56 general insurance companies in 12 years. The Value Added Intelligent Coefficient Model was used and data was analysed using both static (two stage least square, fixed and random effect) and dynamic panel regression analysis (two step system generalised method of moments). The findings showed a significant and direct relationship between lagged return on assets, intellectual capital and financial performance of insurers in the South African Development Community. Out of the components of intellectual capital, human capital and structural capital are significantly and directly related with return on assets while capital employed is inversely and insignificantly related with return on assets. The control variables-underwriting risk, insurer size and leverage are all inversely and significantly affecting return on assets. Thus, a U-shape relationship exists between intellectual capital and financial performance in general insurance companies in the South African Development Community. Thus, the policy makers-cum-insurers' managers should maximise their intellectual capital as this creates competitive advantage that leads to financial performance drive and wealth generation. The Model used in this study is an important model decision-makers can use to assimilate intellectual capital in their decision-making procedures. This will inadvertently permit insurers to scale themselves according to the intellectual capital efficiencies and advance in strategies that will boost their company's financial performance.The diffuse and continually evolving secondary changes after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) make it challenging to assess alterations in brain-behaviour relationships. In this study we used myelin water imaging to evaluate changes in myelin water fraction (MWF) in individuals with chronic mTBI and persistent symptoms and measured their cognitive status using the NIH Toolbox Cognitive Battery. Fifteen adults with mTBI with persistent symptoms and twelve age, gender and education matched healthy controls took part in this study. We found a significant decrease in global white matter MWF in patients compared to the healthy controls. Significantly lower MWF was evident in most white matter region of interest (ROIs) examined including the corpus callosum (separated into genu, body and splenium), minor forceps, right anterior thalamic radiation, left inferior longitudinal fasciculus; and right and left superior longitudinal fasciculus and corticospinal tract. Although patients showed lower cognitive functioning, no significant correlations were found between MWF and cognitive measures. These results suggest that individuals with chronic mTBI who have persistent symptoms have reduced MWF.The Asia-Pacific region has faced conflicting objectives of achieving sustainable economic growth and simultaneously improving environmental quality. This paper, the first of its kind, applies the concept of the Kuznets curve to financial development in this region. The long-term effect of financial development on environmental degradation is examined using a sample of 26 countries in the 2007-2017 period. This paper uses the long-term estimation techniques - the panel autoregressive distributed lag, including the pooled mean group model; the mean group; and the dynamic fixed effect estimator. The second-generation Granger test is used to determine the causality between financial development and environmental degradation. The U-shaped nexus and a bi-directional relationship between financial development and environmental degradation are found.The present study develops an integrated assessment model (IAM) for food security under climate change for South Asia. For IAM, initially, an econometric model is estimated that identifies the impact of climate change on crop yields, using the historical relationships between temperature, precipitation, and the production of cereals. Subsequently, future projections have been collected for temperature and precipitation from climate models of the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5), and the previous econometric model is applied to obtain the implied future cereal yields changes. Then, the yield variations are fed into a multiregional Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) model, calibrated to the GTAP 9 database, taking the form of decreases in factor-augmenting productivity of the grains sector. Further, the present study evaluates the effects of climate change on an individual South Asian country. The results indicate that change in climate decreases food production, increases food prices, decreases food consumption, and thus affects the welfare. Trade and fiscal policy responses are investigated to combat the problem of food security. It is revealed that these two policies fail to compensate climate change damage in all the selected South Asian countries.Identifying the optimal approach for motivating faculty to adopt teaching innovation is important, given that broad-scale initiatives can utilize an inordinate amount of time and resources. Using a quantitative approach, we evaluate policy actions that are most strongly associated with the adoption of either e-learning or community-focused experiential learning, over a five-year period in a single institution. Comparisons between adopters and non-adopters affirm the relevance of previously documented facilitators and barriers. However, a logistic regression analysis demonstrates that actions that promote a supportive institutional culture (such as, an institutional plan, committee involvement, professional development and logistical support) as well as faculty perceptions and beliefs (i.e., "using new methods is not risky for student learning"; confidence and self-efficacy with respect to implementation), is strongly associated with the adoption of either e-learning (n = 118) or community-focused experiential learning (n = 97).
