The triplet sensitizers benzophenone and 2-acetylnaphthone reacted with L-histidine and 2-propanol that were intended to quench/ scavenge 1O2 and hydroxyl radical •OH, respectively, and benzophenone reacted with NaN3 as a 1O2 scavenger and furfuryl alcohol as a 1O2 trapping agent, indicating quenchers may have unanticipated effects when using model sensitizers. Atrazine loss via reaction with 3DOM* will be relevant only in selected conditions, and this work provides a more comprehensive view on the use of model photosensitizers to mimic triplet 3DOM*.It has been reported that anaerobic osmosis membrane bioreactors have the potential for energy recovery since dissolved methane was almost rejected by commercial forward osmosis membranes. Notwithstanding, upgraded biogas has to be achieved by removing as much carbon dioxide as possible. In this study, a novel anaerobic osmotic membrane bioreactor-microbial electrolysis cell (AnOMBR-MEC) system was developed for simultaneous biogas upgrading and wastewater treatment. The AnOMBR-MEC elicited an excellent and stable soluble chemical oxygen demand and phosphorus removal. As the experiment progressed, unwanted carbon dioxide produced from biogas was reduced to formate using a SnO2 nanoparticles electrocatalytic cathode in an electrocatalytic-assisted MEC, with the highest faradic efficiency of formate being 85% at 1.2V. Compared to AnOMBR, the methane content increased from 55% to 90% at the end of operation and methane yield experienced a1.6-fold increment in the AnOMBR-MEC. Microbial community analysis revealed that hydrogenotrophic methanogens (e.g. Methanobacterium and Methanobrevibacter) converted the produced H2 and formate to methane at saline conditions. These results have demonstrated an efficient strategy based on the integration of an electrocatalytic-assisted MEC into AnOMBR for upgrading biogas, enhancing methane yield and wastewater treatment.Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) based on hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are the most important technologies for the removal of bio-recalcitrant organic pollutants in industrial wastewater. The pH is one of the crucial environmental parameters that affect the removal efficiency of pollutants in AOPs. In this work, the mechanistic and kinetic insights into the roles of pH on the hydroxylation of five aromatic acids and bases in UV/H2O2 process have been investigated using theoretical calculation methods. Results show that the reactivity of •OH towards the twelve ionic/neutral species is positively correlated with electron-donating effect of substituents, which contributes to the positively pH-dependent reactivity of aromatic acids and bases towards •OH. The hydroxylation apparent rate constants (kapp, M-1 s-1) (at 298 K) increase as the pH values increase from about 1 to 10, but they decrease as the pH values increase from about 10 to 14. However, the best pH values for degradation are not around 10 because the [•OH] decreases continuously with the increasing pH values from 3 to 9.5. Combining the factors of kapp and [•OH], the best degradation pH values are around 5.5~7.5 for p-hydroxybenzoic acid, p-aminophenol, aniline and benzoic acid, 3.0~7.5 for phenol and 5.5~7.5 for mixed pollutants of these aromatic acids/bases in UV/H2O2 process. Moreover, a significant number of hydroxylation by-products are more toxic or harmful to aquatic organisms and rat (oral) than their parental pollutants. Altogether, this work provides comprehensive understanding of the roles of pH on •OH-initiated degradation behavior of aromatic acids and bases.
Scalable, deliberate practice training strategies to administer evidence-based recommendations are necessary to improve human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates. We sought to characterize resident clinicians' perceptions regarding the usability of the HPV Vaccine Same Way, Same Day smartphone application (app). Usability, a critical aspect of digital programs to promote behavior change, was evaluated.

Fifteen third-year pediatric residents were recruited to complete a usability evaluation of the HPV Vaccine Same Way, Same Day app, which includes simulated role-play scenarios in which users interact, as a pediatrician avatar, with an animated parent hesitant to accept the vaccine for her child. The app provides information about the vaccine and utilizes deliberate practice, a purposeful and systematic approach to improve performance, to teach evidence-based vaccine recommendation practices, including motivational interviewing skills. Data were derived from in-depth, semistructured interviews with pediae HPV vaccine.
The Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It! 7-13 (MEND 7-13) program was adapted in 2016 by 5 Denver Health federally qualified health centers (DH FQHC) into MEND+, integrating clinician medical visits into the curriculum and tracking health measures within an electronic health record (EHR). 5-AzaC We examined trajectories of body mass index (BMI, kg/m
) percentile, and systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP and DBP) among MEND+ attendees in an expanded age range of 4 to 17 years, and comparable nonattendees.

Data from April 2015 to May 2018 were extracted from DH FQHC EHR for children eligible for MEND+ referral (BMI ≥85th percentile). The sample included 347 MEND+ attendees and 21,061 nonattendees. Mixed-effects models examined average rate of change for BMI percent of the 95th percentile (%BMIp95), SBP and DBP (mm Hg), after completion of the study period.

Most children were ages 7 to 13 years, half were male, and most were Hispanic. An average of 4.2 MEND+ clinical sessions were attended. Before MEND+, %BMIp95 increased by 0.247 units/month among MEND+ attendees. After attending, %BMIp95 decreased by 0.087 units/month (P < .001). Eligible nonattendees had an increase of 0.084/month in %BMIp95. Before MEND+ attendance, SBP and DBP increased by 0.041 and 0.022/month, respectively. After MEND+ attendance, SBP and DBP decreased by 0.254/month (P < .001) and 0.114/month (P < .01), respectively. SBP and DBP increased by 0.033 and 0.032/month in eligible nonattendees, respectively.

%BMIp95, SBP, and DBP significantly decreased among MEND+ attendees when implemented in community-based clinical practice settings at DH FQHC.
