Pharmacist intervention has valuable input to the healthcare system by reducing medication errors, costs of treatment and improving therapeutic outcomes. This study aimed to analyze pharmacists' interventions during the verification of computerized physician order entry and to determine the association between prescribers' level and type of prescribing errors. In this cross-sectional, observational study, data collection was carried out over three months starting from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2020. Included were 2405 interventions documented by 52 different pharmacists. The prevalence of prescribing order entry errors was 9.1%. The most identifiable type of intervention was incorrect dilution (40.2%) followed by dose substitution (27.7%). The drug category associated with a high percentage of interventions was perfusion solutions (41%), followed by antibacterial (35%). The number of junior physician orders that required pharmacist intervention was higher than other prescribers (45.2%), followed by specialist and senior physicians, (31.4% and 15.5%, respectively). Prescriber ordering time and types of prescribing errors were shown to have a significant (p less then 0.05) association. Internal medicine physicians entered the highest percentage of prescribing errors, representing 22.7%. The current study concluded that TID has significant potential to reduce drug-related problems; TID fatigue is a real problem that might be under-reported and addressing this point in future studies would be of great value.Copper complexes have shown great versatility and a wide application range across the natural and life sciences, with a particular promise as organic light-emitting diodes. In this work, four novel heteroleptic Cu(I) complexes were designed in order to allow their integration in advanced materials such as metallopolymers. We herein present the synthesis and the electrochemical and photophysical characterisation of these Cu(I) complexes, in combination with ab initio calculations. The complexes present a bright cyan emission (λem ~ 505 nm) in their solid state, both as powder and as blends in a polymer matrix. The successful synthesis of metallopolymers embedding two of the novel complexes is shown. These copolymers were also found to be luminescent and their photophysical properties were compared to those of their polymer blends. The chemical nature of the polymer backbone contributes significantly to the photoluminescence quantum yield, paving a route for the strategic design of novel luminescent Cu(I)-based polymeric materials.Chitosan and pectin films were enriched with blackcurrant pomace powder (10 and 20% (w/w)), as bio-based material, to minimize food production losses and to increase the functional properties of produced films aimed at food coatings and wrappers. Water vapor permeability of active films increased up to 25%, moisture content for 27% in pectin-based ones, but water solubility was not significantly modified. Mechanical properties (tensile strength, elongation at break and Young's modulus) were mainly decreased due to the residual insoluble particles present in blackcurrant waste. FTIR analysis showed no significant changes between the film samples. The degradation temperatures, determined by DSC, were reduced by 18 °C for chitosan-based samples and of 32 °C lower for the pectin-based samples with blackcurrant powder, indicating a disturbance in polymer stability. The antioxidant activity of active films was increased up to 30-fold. Lightness and redness of dry films significantly changed depending on the polymer type. Significant color changes, especially in chitosan film formulations, were observed after exposure to different pH buffers. This effect is further explored in formulations that were used as color change indicators for intelligent biopackaging.Virulent and multi drug resistant (MDR) Salmonellaenterica is a foremost cause of foodborne diseases and had serious public health concern globally. The present study was undertaken to identify the pathogenicity and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles of Salmonellaenterica serovars recovered from chicken at wet markets in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 870 cecal contents of broiler, sonali, and native chickens were collected from 29 wet markets. The overall prevalence of S. Seladelpar molecular weight Typhimurium, S. Enteritidis, and untyped Salmonella spp., were found to be 3.67%, 0.57%, and 1.95% respectively. All isolates were screened by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for eight virulence genes, namely invA, agfA, IpfA, hilA, sivH, sefA, sopE, and spvC. S. Enteritidis isolates carried all virulence genes whilst S. Typhimurium isolates carried six virulence genes except sefA and spvC. A diverse phenotypic and genotypic AMR pattern was found. Harmonic descending trends of resistance patterns were observed among the broiler, sonali, and native chickens. Interestingly, virulent and MDR Salmonella enterica serovars were found in native chicken, although antimicrobials were not used in their production cycle. The research findings anticipate that virulent and MDR Salmonella enterica are roaming in the wet markets which can easily anchor to the vendor, consumers, and in the food chain.The New Delhi Metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) is among the most threatening forms of carbapenemases produced by K. pneumoniae, well-known to cause severe worldwide infections. The molecular epidemiology of blaNDM-1-harboring K. pneumoniae is not well elucidated in Pakistan. Herein, we aim to determine the antibiotics-resistance profile, genes type, molecular type, and plasmid analysis of 125 clinically isolated K. pneumoniae strains from urine samples during July 2018 to January 2019 in Pakistan. A total of 34 (27.2%) K. pneumoniae isolates were carbapenemases producers, and 23 (18.4%) harbored the blaNDM-1 gene. The other carbapenemases encoding genes, i.e., blaIMP-1 (7.2%), blaVIM-1 (3.2%), and blaOXA-48 (2.4%) were also detected. The Multi Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) results revealed that all blaNDM-1-harboring isolates were ST11. The other sequence types detected were ST1, ST37, and ST105. The cluster analysis of Xbal Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) revealed variation amongst the clusters of the identical sequence type isolates.
