Therefore, a better understanding of neutrophil granules and their cargoes will not only shed light on their diverse role in cancer but will also reveal them as novel therapeutic targets. This review provides an overview on existing knowledge of neutrophil granules and detailed insight into the pathological relevance of their cargoes in cancer. In addition, we also discuss the therapeutic approach for targeting neutrophils or their microenvironment in disease setting that will pave the way forward for future research. The present study evaluated the role of dietary folate modulations in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a rat model. Male Wistar rats were given diethylnitrosamine (DEN) carcinogen for a period of 18 weeks in addition to different folate modulations. Biochemical parameters were assayed and liver tissues were examined using various histopathological stains viz. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Masson's trichrome, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining for arginase-1 and α-smooth muscle actin (SMA). Serum folate and hepatic folate stores were decreased and increased in folate deficiency (FD) and folate oversupplemented (FO) group respectively. Analysis of serum liver function tests revealed deranged liver functioning in all the groups. H&E staining of rat liver demonstrated vague nodularity from 2nd to 8th week, fibrosis from 10th to 15th week, cirrhosis and HCC from 16th to 18th week. Combining the observations of H&E with IHC for arginase-1, 14 (50%), 11 (39.3%) and 17 (58.6%) rats showed HCC positivity in FN (folate normal), FD and FO diets respectively. IHC for α-SMA depicted increased staining with progression of the disease from fibrosis to cirrhosis in all the dietary groups. Collectively, findings of all the histopathological stains, revealed increase in the number of cirrhotic cases and decrease in the number of HCC cases in FD group, indicating delayed progression of HCC with FD. Moreover, FO led to more number of HCC and reduction in the number of cirrhotic cases, signifying early progression of HCC.
To study the prognostic significance of neutrophil and lymphocyte dynamics in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with radioembolization.

A retrospective, single-center review of clinical records and treatment parameters (liver volume treated, administered activity, and radiation dose) in consecutive patients who received radioembolization for HCC was performed between August 20, 2015, and May 24, 2019. Neutrophil and lymphocyte variables associated with overall survival (OS) were determined by Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage and were correlated with radioembolization treatment parameters. Statistical methods included Wilcoxon signed-rank test, univariate, and multivariate Cox regression analysis; receiver operating characteristic analysis; and the Kaplan-Meier method.

One hundred sixty-three patients with a median 67.0 years of age were included for analysis. Eighty-one percent of patients received segmental radioembolization with a median treatment dose of 358 Gray (interqudent predictors of survival in BCLC stage C disease and had positive correlations with volume of liver tissue treated and administered activity.
A decrease in lymphocyte count is common after radioembolization, but of little clinical impact. Neither pre-treatment or post-treatment NLR was a predictor of survival in our study population. NLRR and ΔNLR were independent predictors of survival in BCLC stage C disease and had positive correlations with volume of liver tissue treated and administered activity.
4'-[Methyl-11C] thiothymidine (4DST) incorporates into DNA directly and is a PET tracer used for cell proliferation imaging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prediction of prognosis with pretreatment 4DST PET/CT compared to fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT in patients with esophageal cancer.

In this prospective study, we analyzed 46 patients (68.2 ± 10.0 years old) with pathologically proven esophageal squamous cell cancer who underwent pretreatment 4DST and FDG PET/CT. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and total lesion proliferation (TLP) were measured for FDG and 4DST PET. The study endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Patients' clinical backgrounds, including age, histological type, clinical stage, and surgical treatment, were adjusted using the Cox proportional-hazards model.

In the follow-up period (median 18.8 (interquartile range 10.1-29.0) months), 26 and 19 patients showed disease progression and cancer-related death, respectively. After adjusting for clinical variables, only the 4DST parameters (SUVmax (p = 0.001) and TLP (p = 0.022)) were statistically significant for predicting PFS. FDG MTV (p = 0.031), 4DST SUVmax (p = 0.022), and TLP (p = 0.023) were statistically significant for predicting OS. Of the PET parameters, 4DST SUVmax yielded the highest adjusted hazard ratio for both PFS (4.88, 95% confidence intervals (CI) 1.83-12.97) and OS (4.19, 95% CI 1.23-14.20).

Higher accumulation of 4DST in the primary tumor may lead to shorter OS and PFS. 4DST PET/CT is useful for predicting prognosis and may outperform FDG PET/CT.

Here, a new heterostructured SnIn4S8 nanosheet/TiO2 nanotube photoanode was prepared and its photocathodic protection performance was analyzed. Tariquidar datasheet SnIn4S8 nanosheets were uniformly deposited on the surface of the TiO2 nanotube via a solvothermal treatment. The SnIn4S8/TiO2 composite exhibited better photocathodic protection performance compared with pure TiO2 nanotubes, owing to its good visible-light response and photogenerated carrier separation efficiency. Moreover, the composite exhibited a maximum photocurrent density of 100 μA cm-2 for a 6 h solvothermal reaction under visible light irradiation. The negative shift of the photoinduced potential of Q235 carbon steel connected to the composite could reach 0.45 V versus SCE. Therefore, the SnIn4S8/TiO2 composite can offer efficient photocathodic protection for Q235 carbon steel against corrosion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution.
