Fifteen specimens were read as negative for TEN on frozen slides but 4 were changed to positive by permanent biopsy. Overall, the diagnostic accuracy of frozen section was 92.5%, with sensitivity and specificity 92.7% and 91.7% respectively. The positive predictive value, or coherence of positive diagnosis between the two methods, was as high as 98.1%, and the negative predictive value was 73.3%. The p-value of McNemar's tests was 0.375, indicating there was no significant difference between the two biopsy methods.
The data suggest that as a rapid histological assessment, frozen section is a reliable tool in the early diagnosis of TEN.

Myocardial recovery is a rare phenomenon in left ventricular assist device (LVAD) therapy. Surgical LVAD removal is associated with the risk of cardiac failure, and the individual evaluation of sufficient myocardial recovery is crucial. Thus, complete device explantation is not consistently performed to minimize perioperative risk. However, the remaining ventricular assist device components bear significant risks of infection or thrombosis. Therefore, we developed this study to evaluate a complete LVAD explantation protocol.
All patients in our institution who had an LVAD explanted were enrolled in the study. Explant surgery involved removal of the driveline, pump housing, sewing ring and outflow graft. The ventricular wall was reconstructed by double patch plasty. Our analysis focused on surgical and postoperative outcome parameters, including all-cause mortality and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events.
A total of 12 patients (HVAD, n = 5; HeartMate II, n = 3; HeartMate 3, n = 4) had myocaconsistent long-term results.

Musculoskeletal injuries (MSKi) are a common challenge for those in military careers. Reversan Compared to their male peers, reports indicate that female military members and recruits are at greater risk of suffering MSKi during training and deployment. The objectives of this study were to identify the types and causes of MSKi among female military personnel and to explore the various risk factors associated with MSKi.
A scoping review was conducted over a 4-month time frame of English language, peer-reviewed studies published from 1946 to 2019. Search strategies for major biomedical databases (e.g., MEDLINE; Embase Classic + Embase; and the following EBM Reviews-Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Health Technology Assessment, and the NHS Economic Evaluation Database) were developed by a senior medical information specialist and included 2,891 titles/abstracts. Study selection and data collection were designed accordrs should focus on randomized controlled trials examining training paradigms to see if women are more susceptible. The data presented in the scoping review could potentially be used to develop training strategies to mitigate some of the identified barriers that negatively impact women from pursuing careers in the military.

The program has been evaluated for adolescents aged 15-18 years as part of a randomized controlled trial, however qualitative feedback from students on their perceptions of the program is yet to be explored. The current study describes the perspectives of students who took part in the trial. Feedback on the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the program was provided by 979 Year 10 students (M = 15.82 years, female = 43.94%, English as a first language = 72.77%) at four government funded public schools in Melbourne, Australia via online surveys. A content and thematic analysis was performed on the data using a six-step process. Students generally found the program relevant and they connected with the visual material, personal stories and interactive activities. Suggestions for improvements included encouraging active student participation in classroom discussion and providing opportunities to practice skills. School-based mental health education can benefit from input from stakeholder perspectives, particularly when designing mental health content for delivery by external trainers.
Emerging studies indicate that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are widely involved in the progression of human diseases. Due to its special structure which is stable, circRNAs are promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for diseases. However, the experimental verification of circRNA-disease associations is expensive and limited to small-scale. Effective computational methods for predicting potential circRNA-disease associations are regarded as a matter of urgency. Although several models have been proposed, over-reliance on known associations and the absence of characteristics of biological functions make precise predictions are still challenging.
In this study, we propose a method for predicting CircRNA-Disease Associations based on Sequence and Ontology Representations, named CDASOR, with convolutional and recurrent neural networks. For sequences of circRNAs, we encode them with continuous k-mers, get low-dimensional vectors of k-mers, extract their local feature vectors with 1 D CNN and learn their long-term dependencies with bi-directional long short-term memory.
